“Downhome food at a reasonable price”
Reviewed November 23, 2013

We enjoyed every bite of our lunch. Not only was the pulled pork tender and juicy, but the rest of the meal was plentiful and tasty. If you want a "foo foo" fancy restaurant, this isn't the place for you, but if you want downhome food served in a hole in the wall where the food is more important than the ambiance, go for it! Don't be put off by the looks outside. The service was fast in spite of the long line going out the door during lunch, and the prices are extremely reasonable.

“Quintessential southern”
Reviewed November 23, 2013

Our second visit here. Pulled pork was moist and luscious. Companion reported the ribs were wonderful. Sides were good southern green beans and vinegar cole slaw. The smoked potato salad was a delicious twist on the standard recipe. Portions are huge!

“It's all about the hype”
Reviewed November 20, 2013

This is NOT the best BBQ in WNC. The president stopped by here a few times when He was in town so automatically everyone assumes that this is wonderful BBQ...well it AIINT, you can get much better food were the locals eat, like Luella's Bar-B-Que on Merrimon, or Moe's Original Bar B Que on Sweeten Creek, or Perry's Barbeque in Black Mountain. !2 bones is overpriced and overrated. If your a tourist by all means go here because the tourist tax helps our economy. If you really want BBQ that is well done and reasonably priced then try the ones I suggest, cause I have been to all of them and they are great.

“stop by 12 bones for lunch!”
Reviewed November 13, 2013

luckily a local told us to eat at 12 bones, or I am not sure we would have tried . ( as it really doesn't look like much), or found it for that matter. We ate at the River Arts location. It was very busy, but still very fast, efficient and friendly service. I am not even that huge on BBQ style restaurants ( my boyfriend is)- but I LOVED my meal here, as did my boyfriend. The meats were tender and delicious, and they have a few different BBQ sauces to try. One of our sides was the mashed sweet potatoes which were some of the best I have had...wish I could have more now!

“Ok BBQ”
Reviewed November 13, 2013

The service was fast, but the BBQ was average. We ate outside and the atmosphere was not good. Too many flies, you have a view of the parking lot and it is located on a busy street. We won't go back because there are too many good restaurants in Asheville.
