So neat!! So much that it will last year at least a day if not more to see it all! I would suggest that for the price they should include the headphone instead of having that be an extra expense. We also had lunch at the stable cafe which was a bunch of fun!

This glimpse of how the rich and famous lived was truly beautiful and interesting. The audio tour (highly recommended) gave so many insights into the lives of the Vanderbilt families who lived there. The design of the home, garden and grounds is so well done, and well kept. It really is a treasure.

Incredible place play the extra 12 bucks to get a head set as the guided audio tour really takes the experience to another level.

Wow! What a house! It's a long day filled with lots of waiting and crowds, but it's still pretty darn cool. Spring for the audio tour - it could be better (or less expensive), but it's much more interesting with those little details. Be sure to save time (and energy) to explore the gardens and green house. Their worth the price of admission alone. I prefer to eat in one of the sit-down restaurants on site. It's a little more expensive, but worth it to sit for a minute and relax over a nice meal with table service. I read "The Last Castle" by Denise Kiernan before my last visit and the experience was made all the better for it.
