You'll not be disappointed with the tour. Although you don't see every room, you see enough of the mansion to get the full flavor and opulence of the place. The audio tour is also a MUST. I would say that it at least doubled the enjoyment of the visit. Not only do you get to see what George Vanderbuilt lived in, you get a glimpse into the family’s personal life and come out feeling as if you somewhat know them. The price is high, but we pretty much spent the day there. So when comparing the Biltmore cost to Disneyland or other all day attractions, it is in line.

We enjoyed a family visit to Biltmore last Christmas. The decorations were exquisite. My children especially liked the history lesson as we toured the house. Then we all enjoyed lunch after touring the wine making area. It was a beautiful outing, especially at Christmas-time!

We spent the whole day at the Biltmore. We really needed more time but even if we had it, we were tired! Try to get tickets for everything you want to do on line. It does make a difference, it is cheaper and saves time.
We arrived first thing in the morning. Definitely get the audio tour. It is an excellent narration and very complete. The tour took us about 2 hours. Their brochure says it takes about an hour and a half.
We then had signed up for the butler's tour. Very informative and well done. This lasts for an hour. We were, however tired from standing and going up and down stairs. The butler tour required a lot of stair climbing.
Next was the landed estate tour which took us through the grounds. It was on a same bus. Again very informative and well done. We were glad to sit. This was an hour and a half.
We ate at the stable . Excellent food. I never rave at salads but their roasted edge table salad was wonderful.
We walked the grounds....so much to see...the bass pond, greenhouses, and gardens. The gardens were beautiful even though nothing was in bloom.
We did the candlelight tour. Very beautiful. The estate is filled with Christmas. All is lit up. Choirs singing. Wonderful to see and hear. Outside, a tree has been lit with candles in bags surrounding the front grounds.
Finally went to antler village. It was dark by then. Good display on the Vanderbilts. We ate at Cedric Tavern. Good food but pricey. We never got to the winery.

I was in town on business with my wife who bugged me to go. To be honest I had no idea what this place was but I am glad we went. This place is incredible, I can't imagine what it was like to live in such an exciting era. The house is amazing and we have already started planning our return and potential overnight stay at the Inn. You have to see the house to believe the size and beauty. I don't believe we will ever see a home like this again this is really something special.

Besides visiting and learning about the house's history, It is enchanting to see the Christmas lights at night. Well worth your time and the price.
