The shops are all so interesting - artsy stuff from all over. Nearby restaurants are fun and funky, too.

We spent the day walking from one art place to another. Wonderful artist in the area. We especially enjoyed Jonas Gerard studio, all of his work is so special. We loved it so much we brought 4 pieces of his art home. Cant wait to go back and acquire more of his work. Go check it out!

All kinds of art showcased. there really is something for anyone who even remotely likes art. many artist are working and love explain what and how they are doing. My Girl Scouts got the opportunity to ask thoughtful questions and see 1st hand some interesting art forms. spend a few hours here in this district and you may just come away with something new for your home.

HI This was a great adventure, seeing all these artists in their own environments and studios. The district covers several blocks and includes many diverse older building, these are not uptown galleries, there are the real thing!! My favorite was the Cotton Mill, also The Curve had the advantage of being across the street from Nine Bones.

My husband and I were traveling from North Florida to Massachusetts and wanted to take a leisurely ride, not on I 95 completely. So we opted to head west, stopping off in Ashevillle, NC to see the artist's gallery of work at the River Arts District. We had previously visited the Biltmore Estate and didn't want to go there again.

The River Arts District website allows for patrons to see examples of artists and their medium represented. It is great to look at prior to going. Many artists were in attendance showcasing their techniques and wares. There was an amazing range of art— from metal to fiber/textiles to pottery/clay to glass to sculpture to wood to paintings and much more.

We were especially impressed with the openness of the artists and their willingness to explain their work/techniques. Everyone was SO friendly! Having so many artists centrally located in the old factory buildings made the experience unique. Careful walking though - there are many uneven surfaces.

Restaurants were open and the food smelled delicious (we did not opt to eat.)

Only negative - seems the area needs a bit of an upkeep with bushes trimmed and weeds removed - this might be the city's responsibility.
