“Worked well for last minute change.”
Reviewed November 1, 2013

Because of the Gov. shutdown we had to adjust our plans from staying near Shenandoah to hiking and seeing the fall colors in Asheville. It worked out pretty well. There are some nice waterfall hikes
in the Dupont State Forest and the fall colors were better in the Asheville section of the Blueridge Parkway. The staff is very friendly and helpful about information around the immediate area. We needed a non-smoking, no pet room so we stayed on the 2nd floor. The room was clean, a little musty so we had to open the window. The shower was like an enclosed fiberglass shell which was interesting. I liked it. The room had a microwave and a small refrigerator. The beds were comfortable. The mattress box spring was a little stained on the side but not dirty. The breakfast was fine to start the day. The hot food: circular scrambled egg shapes (look prefab but tasted fine), either bacon or sausage, biscuits and gravy and a waffle maker. Other choices: cereal, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, toast, bagels, apples, bananas and misc danish, orange juice, apple juice, milk, coffee, tea, instant oatmeal. There's a few fast food places nearby and a couple of
restaurants. We opted to drive near to UNC and try Papas and beer (just okay). Ice makers are on first and third floor right across from the elevator. For the price and the amenities we were pleased with our stay.

Room Tip: Stay on the second floor for a non-smoking, no pet room.

Thanks for writing a review of you recent stay with us.

We appreciate you taking the time to write such a thorough and thoughtful post that is informative and helpful for future travelers. We are sorry that Washington's incompetence forced your plans to change, but happy you were able to take in the beauty of the fall colors of DuPont and Pisgah have to offer.

We are glad you enjoyed your stay and would love to have you back again.
Best Wishes,

-Josh

Nice room, clean and comfortable. Several dining choices nearby. We tried one that was advertised on a door key and were pleased. The staff was warm and helpful. The WiFi worked well. We wish all our stays were this pleasant.

Knowing we b would e using the room only as a place to sleep, we relied on the reviews on Tripadvisor and booked a room at the Sleep Inn West for two nights. The lobby was a bit sparce, but the people at the front desk were efficient and helpful.

The room was basic but clean and comfortable. There were a fridge and amicrowave as well as a coffemaker in the room. The sink and vanity was in the room itself which was a good thing. The bathroom was rather small and there was no tub, but the shower was roomy. The bed was comfortable. I felt the room was a bit dark, but we did not spend much time in it.

When making reservations, we made sure to ask for a room on the second floor because we had read that smoking was allowed on the third. We did get a second floor room with a view of the mountains. There was no hint of smoke.

There is no ice maker on the second floor, but there is one on the first floor and another on the third, so that posed no problems for us.

The area seems rather commercial, but we felt safe. The hotel is located on a hill near the Interstate but it is very quiet.. It is easy to get to the Biltmore and other attractions. There are several chain restaurants close by.

Room Tip: If you don't smoke, ask for a room on the first or second floor.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review of our property.

That's very much what we are here: a clean, friendly hotel that offers lower prices that the "fancy" spots downtown, and better service and cleaner rooms than the drive-up exterior corridor motels. As per your review, interested guests should inquire about rooms on non-smoking floors (1 and 2) and/or mountain view rooms (on floors 2 and 3).

We are glad you stayed with us and hope to see you again!

It was a nice place for the price. It wasn't as close to any attraction as I thought but it was close to the hwy and only a short drive any where in Asheville. Rooms were clean and comfortable and staff was helpful and friendly. The free breakfast was decent. No hassles checking in or out.

Room Tip: Stay on top floor if light sleeper. Walls and ceiling do let some noise and vibration through.

I have stayed here several times over the years when going to Asheville and always find things to be comfortable and clean. The rooms are nothing fancy but neither is the price. The biggest thing that makes the hotel a good choice is the staff. Everyone here has always been very friendly and efficient. They are always happen to offer advice about restaurants and attractions in the area. Last visit though, one employee went above and beyond. One member of our party woke up with awful indigestion and so we called the front desk to see if they had anything for it. As there is not a small store in the hotel, the hotel did not - but the employee said that he had a fresh roll of antacids in his pocket. We opted not to take the thoughtful guys roll but asked about where we could go and get some. He checked online to see that a Grocery store nearby was open until midnight but then called them just to make sure. We were able to go and purchase something straight away. I think this guys though really went out of his way to accommodate us.

Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel on TripAdvisor, and thank you for being a return guest to our property.

We are glad that you had a good experience with us. We are very proud of our staff team here, from housekeepers to front desk to management. We feel that despite our low rates, we offer the service and support of a much "fancier" property.

We hope to see you back soon!
Thanks,

I often think the continental breakfast is a plus. Here, not so much. They only had 2% milk, the waffles tasted chalky, the gravy and biscuits just plain bland. Luckily, my kids ate it up. Waking up both morning with backaches isn't what I'd call comfortable. It wasn't just me either. I wish the Red Roof Inn wasn't the old school outside entrance to the room, I would have tried it. Very nice facility, friendly employees, but that only does so much.

Booked this hotel with a best rate guarantee at $199/night for a regular 2 double room. The room was nice and clean, but for this price, I expected it to be in a nicer part if town. One member of our party asked if we could get a government discount with her ID and the man at the desk told us he could give us $159/night, BUT since we've already booked the stay, he would be afraid to...but not to worry- there would be a special surprise in our room waiting on us. (Still not sure what that meant.) For this to be a Sleep Inn, the beds were a lot more firm than what I've experienced at other hotels. Would probably go back again if I could book for around $99/night.

Thanks for choosing to stay with us on your recent trip to Asheville.

Concerning rates, weekends in October are the busiest time for tourism here in Asheville, and rates go up all over town. To stay downtown for example, the "discount" hotels are at over $350, with the other downtown upscale rates climbing far above that.

Any other time a year, save for an October weekend, your rates will be much, much lower.

Please consider staying with us again if you are coming to Asheville.

Thanks again for you stay,
-Management
