Hotel was dirty, pool was closed, rooms were falling apart, needed maintenance, the wall ac/heaters were all black and moldy. we were afraid to turn them on and blow mold spores around the room. One room had young children in it with asthma already. Outside garbages were full grounds were dirty, lots of noises all night long. Breakfast was frozen waffles( eggos) toast, cereal. There was a man standing around with a cloth wiping up after you everywhere you went. Then a woman that stared at you while you ate. Very uncomfortable feeling. We were there too late in evening to find somewhere else to stay but checked out early the next day and left.

We stayed at the Floridian for 3 nights because it is well situated to visit the Everglades. And that is about all I can say that is good about the place. The buildings are worn and dirty, especially the outside areas which have overflowing trashcans, cigarette butts ground out on the walkways and in front of the room doors, and trash in the parking lot.

For some reason the place attracts low-life who like to party all night. There appears to be no hotel security to quite the drunks down. The noise went on two nights unabated.

The free breakfast is so bad that we wandered across the road to find a fast food joint. Anything was better than the crap they served at the hotel.

The neighborhood is down right scary and the only good thing I can say is that there is a fairly new shopping mall across the street. But even that is populated by less-than-desireable people.

Don't ever stay in this place; pay a bit more and find something on down the road.

As was already stated, the free "wifi" basically does not exist. If you tried really early or really late (in your room) you got lucky for a few seconds. The staff was nice. The continental breakfast was just that. As has already been stated by other reviewers it's a great jumping off point - South Beach one day, speedway one day, Key West the next. Both ice machines were broken when we arrived but they had one working by the time we left.

We ended staying at the Floridian for 5 days, as the price offered by Expedia could not be beat. It ended up being $44/night for 5 nights including breakfast. We just needed a place to spend the night in a convenient location as we would be venturing into every direction in the next 5 days.

The place is fairly easy to find, right across the street is a Publix, a Pollo Tropical, Starbucks and many more stores. To the left at the end of the block is a Cuban restaurant and to the South is another Grocery store.

Check in was smooth, no issues. They had everything ready.
Breakfast, is consistent, ready on time, 7am (through 10am), bagels, bread, donuts, eggo’s, coffee, cereal and bananas. Nothing special, enough to get yourself going. There is a nice lady hovering around to ensure that the place remains clean and supplied.

The room was clean, South Florida style decorated, a bit dated however it was clean. The beds are bouncy, the pillows are not that great, the AC is really cold, and the fridge and the coffee maker were present.

The place itself is not new, paint has been used to cover up some stuff, however it is well kept, there is no trash flying around. Maintenance is around all day and night. We had an AC issue on the first night and they took care of it right away. Offered to switch our rooms, but we declined.

The pool is of a good enough size for the location. It was clean and maintained. Plenty of furniture around.

Noise, the walls are thin and if you have loud neighbors you will hear everything. The location itself although located next to the highway was relatively quiet as the rooms are away from the road.

Housekeeping, the first day we came back, it was ok, based on what was done. The following days seemed better. (Coffee replaced, toiletries etc.)

Wireless signal is inconsistent. We were halfway down and it was fine in the morning, and late at night.
There were moments were it would just drop off /or slow and I needed to reconnect. 75% good, 25% aggravation.

In short,
Good: location, price per night (including breakfast), clean
Medium: Housekeeping could be better/more consistent, Wireless signal.
Low: Thin walls.

If you want a clean, well situated room, then this could work for you. If you want more luxuries, this hotel will not work for you.

Enjoy.

Homestead is in a good position for going to the everglades and as a gateway to the keys, south of Miami. But the Hotel was not really cheaper than in Miami and was not very nice. Namely it was quite dirty and the pool was closed. Breakfast was pretty bad, but there is a Starbucks just opposite of the Hotel. When asked for a bar, the receptionist directed me to a place that would only let me in if I would eat something. So I bought beer at the gas station which is very close by.

We stayed here because there was a group rate for attendees at the orchid festival. The place was clean and comfortable enough, but the staff was baffled by our requests for washcloths; they finally came up with one. The WiFi signal is too weak to be of use. Other than that, okay.
