“The cutest cottage for gator!!”
Reviewed June 28, 2012

I was working in the area and always like to find the "local" spots for goot eats. The fruit stand just down the street (Robert is Here) recommended the Gator Grill. When we arrived we couldn't help but chuckle at how quirky and cute this place was. There are picnic tables outside to sit at while being surrounded by these cutouts (the kind you put your face in) of beach babes and showgirls. The inside has a countertop to dine at and sits directly across from the open kitchen. The food was delightful and our party of eleven did not go back to work unsatisfied! Big menu variety for such a little place, 1/2 lb burgers, ribs, gator bites, frog legs and locally grown vegetables to name a few. Elsa & Sal were very personable and we had a great conversation about going where the "locals" go. Can see why this place is #2 in Homestead, but should be #1 just because it was so cute!! Just a bit of the path to the keys, but worth it for the fun time!

“Can't say enough about this charming place!”
Reviewed June 28, 2012

Mom and I just enjoyed our weekly outing together at a perfect spot less than an hour away (taking the scenic route). This little charmer of a local eatery was simply perfect in every way. We were greeted most kindly by owner Elsa who offered up a trio of specials along with the great-sounding items from the menu. We went for the specials. Mom selected the fish tacos, while I chose the rosemary chicken wings. Yum! On both counts!
But the food was not only a reason to rave. Both owners (Sal came over to chat and check on our reaction to the food as well) were immediately like family/friends in their demeanor. We did not want to leave. I will be bringing my husband back within the week, and friends as soon as we can.
Trust this review...I seldom write them, but this experience warranted it. Bon appetite!
Oh...this is a great place to get delicious organic mangos in season. Don't leave without buying some. katherine

“WOW!!! The Real Deal”
Reviewed June 28, 2012

The staff is friendly, the prices are affordable and the food...probably the best mom and poops restaurant in all of Miami.

The chef is this guy from Brooklyn who reminds of a hit man from the movie "Good fellows." He has a great team of diverse individuals and recipes from around the globe. The standard menu serves the best alligator taco known to man, and different varieties of everglade treats like frog legs, gator kabobs and a basket of GRILLED alligator. The frozen-key-lime-pie-stick was a great summer time pick me up. WOW this place rocks!

NOTE: this difference between the Gator Grill and other restaurants is their dedication to use the freshest products/ingredients available. You will take notice the moment you walk in; there is a lot of love and care inside this tiny shop.

“Great gator”
Reviewed June 19, 2012

Good place to stop for lunch and then have a shake at Robert is Here, which is nearby. The restaurant is very small; just enough room to go inside to place your order and then eat at a picnic table outside. The alligator meat was quite good; my friend and I split the gator platter. I had never tried alligator meat before, but it tasted like chicken (cliche, I know). Prices are a little high for the portion sizes, but then I suppose that alligator meat is considered gourmet.

“Stop for experience!,”
Reviewed June 1, 2012

Food was good but interaction with owner even better! Had gator bites and frog legs and tried the coconut water straight from the coconut. Owner went out of his way to talk about the food and preparation. Not much to look at but definitely worth stopping...if not for the food then for the experience.
