“Worth a visit”

Very interesting displays regardless of your age. Mens restroom was very clean. One of the most interesting exhibits to me was the video/audio of piloting the supertanker up the Neches River to dock at an oil refinery.

“Very Well Done”
Reviewed March 5, 2014

This place has a great exhibit and interactive ones as well. I am impressed with all the places I can visit in this relatively small city of Beaumont. It has a lot to offer. Also see the botanical gardens for free. Its great!

“Good museum”
Reviewed February 7, 2014

Good history of oil exploring in Texas. Animated characters are especially good. I expected the museum to tell us about all the good things oil does for us but the museum could leave the propaganda out. Not designed for younger kids as a lot of the information has to be read. $5.00 admission.

“Not baby friendly”
Reviewed January 14, 2014

They wouldn't allow me to push my stroller in there and so we left. It would have been hard to really enjoy the museum while having to carry my baby and all the other things that go along with a baby. They were not busy or crowded so I really didn't understand the problem.

“Visual, factual delight for all ages”
Reviewed September 5, 2013

To start, downtown Beaumont has done a wonderful job of preserving old buildings, landscaping, and making the area attractive. There is a free parking lot attached to the museum, and we had no difficulty finding it, but beware of the one-way streets. Inside is spacious, well-lighted, with lots of different types of exhibits, ranging from chemical/scientific explanations and features to animated models talking about their experiences back in the day working on rigs. There are old, refurbished oil tankers, photographs, hands-on exhibits, maps -- just a little of everything. Everyone from granny to Little Beau can find something to love about this museum. Entrance fee is only a few dollars. Great museum!
