Owner description: The Fire Museum of Texas is housed in the historic 1927 Central Fire Station for the City of Beaumont. View interactive exhibits for the entire family that trace the history of the fire service in the state of Texas. Our exhibits explore equipment, trucks and fire fighting methods from the mid-1800s to the present. Perhaps one of the most comprehensive fire museums in the nation our exhibits feature a 1856 Howle Hand Drawn Tub Pumper, a 1909 Ladder Truck and a 1931 REO Light Truck - the first of its kind in the entire world. An interactive Fire Safety House allows children to practice escaping from a house fire.

This a great family destination with a lot of cool fire engines and a lot of history behind Beaumont an the history of the fire department. If you enjoy seeing the history of how a fire department shaped a community and how it has contributed to the community since the early 1900's it is a must see.

Recently visited the Fire Museum of Texas in Beaumont, TX. My wife and my grandson and I enjoyed seeing the giant fire plug that sits across the street from the "Old Fire House"! I think it is said to be the world's largest. We also paid respects to fallen firefighters at the "Firefighter's Memorial" in the plaza next to the giant fire plug.
Inside the museum was really special! The old Hook and Ladder and the antique fire engines was a special sight to see! The kids had a chance to dress up as firefighters and sit in a "mock" fire engine. Up stairs in the Firefighters Quarters there were lots of fun activities for the kids. The "smoke' house was set up as a mini-home and the kids could react to realistic fire emergencies.
The visit was very educational as well as fun for the kids. The price was right-FREE! Of course you could make a donation.
Don't miss seeing this museum. It is well worth the time!

When my grandchildren visit each summer, the first thing they ask is "When are we going to visit the Fire Museum?" I understand that this is one of the few fire museums that exists. The museum has fire trucks that are among the oldest. There are activities for children to show them about fire safety and areas for just playing with little trucks.

Stopped here after reading a review on Trip Advisor. We were not disappointed. Although small, the old firehouse is full of memorabilia, fire engines and related apparatus. Upstairs is the "dormitory" area--now used for school children to attend "camp" and learn about fire stations and life as a fireman. We had a great guide--Fireman McKinley who spent a lot of time explaining the engines, and telling us bits of history aswe toured the facility. The giant fire hydrant outside, and the row of small hydrants along the street make for great photos.
