“Awesome Terlingua”
Reviewed March 6, 2014

Terlingua has to be the best kept secret ever! This is a lively "ghost town" with more to do in the area than you have time! Great for camping, hiking, dirt biking, motorcycling, arts, and funky things as well!

“Quirky!”
Reviewed February 9, 2014

Terlingua is okay to visit if you find yourself with some extra time to kill. If not, just stay in the park and enjoy the gorgeous park views. Terlingua's trading post is fun and has a great selection of gifts and food items. The locals were not particularly friendly but were not rude either....I'm glad we experienced it and enjoyed our stop at the cemetery at sunset...pretty cool! But if you're short on time, skip it and enjoy Big Bend.

“Retro Rents/Painted Feather Art Gallery~Cool place to visit or stay”
Reviewed February 7, 2014

Stop by and say to Sam and Dani who run a vintage RV rental site and Dani runs her own Art Gallery. They have restored some beautiful old RV's and make the available for rental. It's a nice place to stay if you're visiting the area (especially convenient to Big Bend National Park). Sam will show you around the RV's if they are not rented at the time.

The art gallery is quaint and features local artists. Check for hours before you stop in though. http://www.paintedfeatherstudiogallery.com/

“You can stay right in the Ghost Town -- and it's lively!”
Reviewed January 11, 2014

The Terllingua Trading Post is the "town square" for the ghost town portion of Terlingua. There's always a crowd of slackers on the front porch boozing it up and waiting to watch the sun set. There are free hula hoops if you want to keep warm (we were there in January). Inside the Trading Post is a walking tour map of the ghost town you can buy for $1. Be sure to visit the little mission church on the hill, which has recently had its windows restored and in which there are now services. Very calm and evocative. For a real treat, stay in the ghost town itself. Big Bend Holiday Hotel books a range of lodgings, including the mine owner's grand house on the hill -- the Perry Mansion. It's like staying in an Adams Family ruin. Great fun!

“Great old West Texas Ghost Town”
Reviewed December 29, 2013

Wandered through this group of abandoned houses to take photographs. Walked through the local cemetery too, and there is an old church up on the hill. Beautiful area with stunning views and well worth a visit. The cemetery sign explains that this was an old mining community and that mercury was extracted here, leading to the death of the miners. Very sad and sobering.
