The general store has some unique items and the staff is very friendly. The town looks like an old time movie set with beautiful views of mountains and desert landscaping. The old cemetery is unique and makes for a good picture taking opportunity. Terlingua is a nice escape from the world.

The old Terlingua Ghost Town with its general store and Starlight Cafe is a great side trip for anyone visiting the Big Bend area. The General Store has something for everyone. Plenty of shopping for the ladies, ice cream for the kids and beer the men folk can drink out on the large front porch while taking in the views waiting on the ladies to finish shopping. The sunsets from the from porch are nice as well as a gathering place to talk with the locals. There are some real characters there! The Starlight is a good place to catch a meal if you aren't in a hurry and you aren't looking for fine cuisine. There's a graveyard, old buildings and even old mine shafts the locals may take you to see if they are willing.

What a nice visit, no crowds, noise, traffc, nothing but quiet peacfulness. We hiked the Lost Mine Trail, it was 5 -miles out and back. Really pretty after the recent rains, the hills were covered in green. Only saw eight people the whole day.The park is 800,000 acres and there is nothing but jutting mountains and rolling desert as far as you can see. You feel really alone when there. I reccommend fixing the clunker before you visit.

Terlingua has a ghost town. You may wonder about that later when you experience this place and have a chance to talk with the friendly locals. The people are nice, but things seem to run on another wavelength here so go with an open mind. See the cemetery along the way to experience Dia de los muertos tributes. This was once a mining town and there is a grate covering the mineshaft entrance. You look down and cannot see anything but darkness. I dropped in a stone and never heard it hit the bottom. Something about this place brings to mind the Hotel California song. Terlingua is unique and your nearest option for a restaurant meal outside the park, so good luck.

We had dinner at the Starlight Theatre and it was the best meal of our trip. Plus, the music of Uh-Clem was a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
