“Best Deal in Town”

After reading reviews on all the motels in the area I chose this one, and it was the right choice. I stayed there four nights. It was clean, quiet and nicely furnished. with a comfortable bed that did not hurt my back and a nice recliner. As others have said, the family running the motel was very friendly and accomodating. I have stayed at other motels in the area in previous trips, but this was the best experience I had.

It isn't a Marriott or Hilton, but for a small town you can't do better, and the upscale motels/hotels will cost you up to five times as much.

Having stayed at the Holiday Inn Express previously, we read the reviews here and tried the Mid Town Motel (much cheaper) on our last trip down. The owners are extremely nice, accommodating and the motel (while being a bit older) is very clean and well maintained. We enjoyed it and will be returning.

I really wanted to stay at the Holiday Inn Express, but I stayed at the Midtown instead because it was half the cost, and I'm so glad I did. My family and I stayed there 4 nights and I was really impressed. The rooms were very well kept, and the beds were amazingly comfortalbe. I'll pick this place over the H.I. Express every time.

We went to see Bent's Old Fort National Historic Site and this (the Mid-Town Motel) is where we stayed. We're opting more often for clean, well-maintained refurbished motor courts and this one proved an excellent choice. The pride of ownership is evident and we would stay there again. It's also right near the local police station, so it's definitely secure.

This was a very nice place. The proprietor was very friendly and helpful, and the place was well-kept. The bed was very good and the room even had two recliners. It was not as quiet as they'd like you to think because, even though they're two blocks off the highway, they are still on the town's main drag. But it was quiet during sleeping hours, which is what matters.

A great non chain motel in an out of the way town. It may be off the
main road in town but it is worth finding since it is not near the train
tracks nor the highway. Our room was clean and neat and a great place
to relax and sleep. The management is friendly and helpful. If you
are tired of the same, same chain rooms give it a try. The price is
right.

It's somewhat worn, the baths have vintage sinks and tile (40s? or earlier), but everything else is up to date, and it's quite clean, and quite quiet. For less than $40 a night, it's totally acceptable.
The best thing is the owners. PJ and Jack are friendly, down-home folks.
There's no food on premises, but Lori's Corner Cafe, open 10 to 4, is like three blocks away, and has an awesome breakfast burrito, which they serve all day, or there are numerous chains within probably ten miles.
The dates I listed are random, as I've stayed there probably three weeks, nonconsecutively, over the last ten years, and had no problem any time.
Parking could be adventurous in anything larger than a sedan. The lot is small. There's no web site or 800 number, either. But it's literally a mom and pop operation.
Check the La Junta website before you go, and be aware that you may be chosen as the guest of the month for the city wakeup breakfast. That's great fun, but at 6:30 in the morning!
Yes, the place is a little like what we wish we'd grown up in, unless we did. But it's a good escape from city life, and Mid Town is a nice break from cookie-cutter chain lodgings.
