“Go for the convenience, not for the quality (except for BB)”
Reviewed September 11, 2013

Hot Rocks is a slightly better option than the cafeterias on-site at LANL. You can get hot breakfast or lunch, which is nice, and they prepackage a variety of salads and baked goods. I would rate several things quite highly but in general the food is just average. I really like the croissants, the breakfast burritos, and the paninis. I don't really like the New Mexican food much. Occasionally they have something out of left field for the daily special, like shrimp gumbo or something, and when I see that I usually get it (and it's good). They also have several espresso and coffee options but honestly I'd rather drive to Starbucks. The best thing about Hot Rocks is the convenience - they are on-site, they have plenty of seating when it's nice enough to sit outside, and the food is served pretty quickly. It's also a good place to have a business lunch.

“Service with an attitude and few options”
Reviewed April 20, 2013

I advise people to go elsewhere, Hot Rocks is unimpressive, the food is less than average, and the service is not customer friendly.

“Consistent and Quick”

If you want to grab a quick bite to eat - this is the place. Always good and always quick! Decent selection for a small cafe.

“Good Lunch”
Reviewed February 2, 2013

I had a good lunch here yesterday, red enchilada plate with beef. The red sauce was good, the enchiladas were ground beef, not that great, but overall it tasted good. This place had good coffee and sandwiches, new mexican food, and is usually well-patronized. Sometimes the wait is long, because it's near the lab and people like it.

Great atmosphere! Quck service and quite friendly. I came here to just relax for a few minutes after hiking all day. Nice place to stop in and have a quick bite! Would highly recommend!
