“Very Nice!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 24, 2011

We spent one night here in a cabin in August. It was very clean, the owners nice and very helpful. Restrooms were clean, they had a good supply of (24 hr!) washers and dryers, and the playground was in good condition. There were plenty of other things to do, but we didn't have a chance to partake in any of the "extras." We would have like to have had a chance to use the pool, especially since they had kiddie pool, which our 3 y.o. would have loved. Their dinner was nothing special, but it was cheap and easy, and that's what matters when you're tired and hungry.

My husband and I stayed here about 4 years ago on a trip to South Dakota. This campground is located on the southern edge of Badlands National Park and on the northern boundry of the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. We stayed at one of the tent sites with electrical hookup and water. The swimming pool was a welcome relief after a long 8-hour drive in the car in mid August. We also enjoyed the Indian tacos the Kamping Kitchen served and we also ate there in the morning when they offer pancakes, sausage, juice and coffee for a reasonable price. Although the shower building/bathroom was a bit small and could have been better ventilated, overall we thoroughly enjoyed this campground. It offers plenty of space and there's a dog walk area along with a playground and miniature golf course for family fun. I believe they also rent out go-karts for kids at a small fee. What we loved most was how peaceful and quiet it was - the tent sites are further back from the main road we entered on, so the traffic noise was minimal but there really wasn't all that much traffic anyway. We also thoroughly enjoyed the quiet rush of the White River, which runs right behind the tent sites. The coolest thing was at night when we heard nearby coyotes howling and an owl hooting in one of the trees nearby. Very rustic and quiet with beautiful scenery!

Only scheduled to stay 2 days at White River - decided to stay 3 days and wish
we had more time. The owners were great hosts, Camp store was well stocked
and both pool and rest rooms were always spotless.
Enjoyed the National park and the people. Glad we stayed here.

Room Tip: Nice wide sites with shade trees

We have 3 kids, and after a day driving and hiking along the "Loop" the combination of friendly people, a pool, mini golf and some decent food hit the spot. Super clean, in the shade (a premium in the Badlands in August), and close to the Park. Only drawback is that their views are limited.

This KOA was really well maintained. The staff was helpful and friendly. The location was great and our site was quiet. We did not feel like we were crowded at our campsite. We would definitely stay here again.

This was our first koa camping experience and we enjoyed it. We were only there briefly but the place was clean, scenic, and offered many things to do. Cabins and bathrooms were clean and staff was helpful!

We have nothing but great things to say about the Badlands/White River KOA. It was extremely close to the national park (probably 10 miles) and was like an oasis with all of the trees. We stayed in one of the two cottages with a bathroom and air conditioning (highly recommended in July!) and the cabin was brand new and spotless. Lots of shade throughout the campground, wifi available if you're willing to move around a bit, and great facilities.

The laundry was the cheapest we saw our whole trip, and the cleaning lady informed me to use a certain dryer to get the most for my money! We also had the pancake breakfast one morning, and it was delicious. If you are going to visit the Badlands, this is the place to stay. Affordable ($65/night), clean, friendly.
