My family and I recently stayed at this hotel. Great location! The rooms were very nice, clean, and quiet. The staff went above and beyond to make sure the guests are happy. I was most impressed with the elaborate daily breakfast buffet and the cocktail hour dinners provided Tuesday - Thursday. We received quality food and friendly service at every meal. Lastly, the hotel provides access to the McLean Racquet Club and Fitness Center, which is amazing. The club is around the corner and offers a long list of fitness classes, swimming pool, and all the cardio and weight equipment you would expect from a large club. This was an unexpected bonus!

Stayed here for a week in March 2014. Rooms are nice, maybe little outdated but lots of space and everything you need is in there. Location is not in Tysons Corner (shopping centre) but near. They have a free shuttle bus which actually runs when and where you want it to run (that was good service). Location is near some stores and restaurants, but nothing much in walking distance of the hotel. Breakfast is included but pretty lousy.
Service of staff is pretty good.

So it is a good place to stay, but you need transportation to go anywhere.

This hotel was exactly what we needed. McLean location and two bedrooms for 3 adults and two children. The exterior looks good, pool was nice for a extended stay hotel. Breakfast was a good value, the omelette station on the weekends was great. Coffee always readily available.

Unfortunately the interior of the rooms leaves a lot to be desired. We were immediately hit with a stale smokey/pet/college apartment odor when we walked in. I called the front desk and asked if there was a non-smoking room that didn't stink like smoke and was told that all rooms had already been assigned and that they would send someone to look into it. A few hours later someone came with a can of Fabreeze and sprayed the whole place, that worked for about 10 minutes. We were on the first floor, which was convenient, but we were directly next to the air conditioners, it was loud enough that when they turned on they woke up the kids.

The shower curtain fell down, the bathroom wall paper was completely peeled from the walls, and there was an empty bottle of Crown Royal in our bathroom. There was free wi-fi, but I wouldn't rely on it, we had really spotty service the whole time.

Overall, we would actually probably stay there again due to the fact that there is nothing else around that is in that location with that sized rooms. It would just be very nice if they got their act together with the rooms and did a little refurb.

I personally want to thank this hotel. I left my small but important item in the room, however, didn't dawn on me right away. I called the hotel after I came back my home, which is thousands of miles away. The hotel personnel kindly contacted me back to let me know that they had found my forgotten item. Everyone at the front desk is friendly, efficient, and very much in tune with the needs of the guests. The room is nice and comfortable. I didn't have a chance to try, but they make an omelette in front of you on the weekend in addition to free breakfast. I and other guests used the conference room, and they were accommodating for us well. This is not a fancy luxury hotel, but the service I received was impeccable throughout and beyond my stay. Jonathan and Hazel, both demonstrated the excellent hospitality.

We stayed here for 6 nights as a small family. For what it is, it is excellent. Don't go expecting luxury. Don't come here for a "special" trip. But if you are a family or on a business trip, you can't beat the Staybridge in McLean. I really wouldn't say it is in Tyson's Corner. However, the more quiet area in McLean is a plus. You can walk to the grocery store and several restaurants (none amazing, but quite decent). Beyond that, you'll need a car (or take your chances with the hotel shuttle -- we didn't use it). It is not near the metro. We took advantage of the pass for the local health club -- free at the desk. The breakfast is good for a hotel. We only made one of the evening receptions (only done a few nights during the work week) and won't blow you away but is still appreciated. Overall, this is a super practical place with good execution.

Room Tip: It is a very large hotel. I'd ask for something on the first or second floor (to avoid the elevators) and not too far from an exit. It can be a bit of a maze. The area is quiet so I wouldn't worry about having an exterior window.

Unwilted,

We appreciate your recent review. Since the new SILVER LINE has opened we are now 1.2 miles away from the metro! Starting in late October 2014, we will be starting a major renovation of all of our suites. The next time to stay you will have stainless steel appliances, granite counter tops and a complete modern décor. We hope you will return to see our new look.
