“Nice location and room”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 21, 2013

This hotel was nice and our room was large and very clean. It is conveniently located with access to Arches NP, Canyonland NP and Nead Horse SP. It is located on the side of a hill and the restaurant is on the upper level of the hill. They do offer a shuttle to carry you up for those of us who might not be up to the walk. The food was good!

The Best Western Canyonlands was a good find for us. The room was comfortable and quite spacious, the beds were great, and the breakfast was plentiful. It is well-located both for visiting the spectacular Arches National Park, as well as Deadhorse and Canyonlands Parks, and for strolling the town. The staff were friendly and helpful, and there are a couple of reasonable restaurants within a 3 minute walk. I would definitely return,

My family & I stayed here in Aug 2013. We booked one of the large family room suites. 3 queen sized beds, kitchen, sitting area. The unit was all renovated & was perfect for us to relax in after a long day rivervrafting, mtn biking & exploringing the area. Nice comp bfast every morn too. This hotel is right in the centre of town & steps to several good eateries. We will return.

We find this to be a mid-range hotel, a bit expensive, but wonderfully located to access Arches NP, Canyonland NP and Dead Horse SP. It was easy to visit the parks in the early morning and late afternoon (when the light is best) and return to the BW mid-day. Our room was good sized, had a refrigerator, was comfortable and quiet. It came with an OK breakfast (for someone who doesn't eat eggs/bacon). A plus is a nice outdoors patio a bit up from the 2nd floor, where you can see the surrounding landscape while enjoying your morning coffee. We also used the pool as a welcome respite from the mid-day heat. One oddity - an elevator takes you up to the 2nd floor, but you then need to negotiate two levels of steps with your luggage to reach some rooms.

The room was very large and very clean. Great location in the center of town. The breakfast was a cut above what you expect...hot eggs and bacon. Would love to stay a week. Hope I can get my wife to leave.

The ratings I gave the Best Western Plus Canyonlands Inn is based on comparison to other BW properties. We've stayed at premier properties and those that are just a building and parking lot. There are always accommodations that will rank lower/higher. Room price has a significant bearing on perceived value. I wish Tripadvisor had an "above average" rating between average and very good for this fact.

The Best Western Plus Canyonlands Inn is a "plus". The king bed room was quite spacious and featured a mid-sized mini-fridge with small freezer. This BW had been recently updated (2008/2009) and it was good to see it has been kept up. No issues with cleanliness and the rooms are still in very nice shape and modern looking. The beds are comfortable. A comment another reviewer posted was about the motion sensor hallway and bathroom lights. They are a convenience in the middle of the night (Walk and don't think/search for a light) however you have to get in the habit of tuning them off by pressing the switch as they do stay on for a awhile after you return to bed.

This BW is central and a very short walking distance to the majority of restaurants and stores. Remember that Moab has the main road running through it and 90% of the tourists businesses and accommodations are located on this road.

The breakfast area is considerably larger than many Best Westerns. If you are at all familiar with the BW free breakfast offerings and rooms then I would consider this a notch or two above. There's even a outside, covered 2nd floor patio off the breakfast area.

This BW does have an oddity that the master hallway from the lobby area drops down 3 steps to the remaining 70% of the rooms. it's not a tremendous issue but be aware of it when handling luggage. We just loaded/unloaded from another door to our "level".

The pool area is sparse but not barren. It is sufficiently screened to give a sense of privacy. Pool towels are provided.

Dinner restaurants: My recommendations are #1 Pasta Jays, #2 Zax and a distant #3 Miguel's Baja Grill.

The road noise is ever-present in Moab. The main highway (brought down to neighbourhood speeds) runs through Moab. There's the constant sound of larger semi trailer trucks. It's not annoying but it is there. It does become part of the environmental noise level. Indeed it would be much more quiet in Moab without the larger trucks gearing up/down and braking.

We can't really comment about service. The front staff was friendly and efficient but not personal. We never interacted very much.

The higher rating of the Best Western Plus Canyonlands Inn is well deserved. It is a better Best Western and could only be topped within the chain by the premier ($$$$) BW locations. I would say this would be in the top 75 percentile of BW properties; an acceptably good value for the location.

There is so much to explore in the Moab area beyond Arches National Park. Start googling and explore Canyonlands, Dead Horse Point State Park, Fisher Towers, Corona Arch and many other outlying areas. There's more than plenty to do that can easily fill up a week and Moab is an extremely bike friendly area.

Room Tip: Travelling with lots of luggage? Ask for a room on the first floor near but not beside an access do...

5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 15, 2013

On Friday night 9/13/13 the Ramada Inn rented six (6) rooms out from under us even though we had reservations guaranteed for late arrival. Essentially there were no rooms available in Moab and we were faced with either sleeping in our cars or driving to Green River (more than one hour away) which had a couple of rooms. At 10pm the Best Western staff rallied to our support and found three rooms. Even though we had to stay three per room we were very grateful.

Our rooms were very spacious and well appointed. We had two double beds and a pull out couch. The full breakfast (included) was delicious. The second floor dining area included an outside veranda which was very inviting overlooking the city and the surrounding red rock mountains.

Later in the day we returned wet, dirty and tired from a river float trip. Even though they were completely booked they offered us facilities to change. Overall their service went beyond the call plus the facility was top notch. Boo on Ramada and many thanks to Best Western. We will not forget how you came to our rescue in a top notch way.
