I've been wanting to try this place for years. The fact that it's been there so long told me that it had to be good. We just never made the time to go there, what with all the other choices and our longer visits to Moab being based at a B&B. So we finally made it. And we'll go back again. The menu offered plenty of temptations, but the Eggs Benedict grabbed us both. They claim a slightly spicy hollandaise sauce that scared MrsRedPony, so she ordered it on the side. One taste and she drizzled the entire cup right onto the eggs. They were cooked perfectly and we devoured them.
Service was prompt and friendly.
Moab, expensive no matter what you do. That being said I have a hard time feeling I got value on anything there but it is relative. The Jailhouse only does breakfast. If that is all you do it must be good, right? They do it well. It's rustic so don't expect anything fancy. Soda is in cans. The food is excellent. The menu is small but some unique items. I has the normal fair but ordered a side of Soul food bacon. ORDER THE SOUL FOOD BACON. This was no game changing breakfast but the food was good and I have never had bacon so good. You poor vegetarians.
Pretty basic breakfasts, good quality, excellent service - the historic building is pretty neat, and the outdoor seating is fantastic.
The food was good and portions were good. The atmosphere and service were what you would expect for a small tourist town. It wasn't bad but it wasn't the best either. The place seemed a little cramped but they did a good job squeezing what tables they did into the small historical building. A sign said they won't put tables together to accommodate large groups. The ginger pancakes were really good. All the menu items seemed a little high price wise.
