“Great location, big rig friendly!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 17, 2014

We just returned from spending two weeks at the Portal RV Resort and loved it! The "resort" side of the complex is designed for big rigs which is important to us. Paved roads with nice landscaping and large, deep sites. Pool and other amenities as well. Be aware that there are two areas of this resort; one area for big rigs and the other for campers/trailers, etc. The non-big rig area has paved roadways but does not have paved sites. Sites seemed to be well-maintained however landscaping is minimal. Rest rooms/showers appeared to be well-maintained and there are group picnic areas as well as a small swimming pond. Great location off of the highway at the north end of Moab. Minimal road noise. Short distance to Arches National Park, Canyonlands National Park and Dead Horse State Park as well as lots of biking, ATV and jeep trails. You won't be disappointed!

I read a lot of reviews on different RV parks in Moab and glad we chose Portal. After being there and seeing the other rv parks, Portal was the best fit for us. It's set further off the highway so road noise is not an issue. We had a nice sized pull through site with a shade tree. Which was very welcome when the days heated up! Our pad had a picnic table and a grill. The pads are gravel but pretty level. There are showers that the boys used but I did not. No one had any negative comments. The swimming hole is a bit unusual. The boys swam and I sat on the dock with my feet in the water. It's really cold water and only about 4ft deep. My boys enjoyed it. It's much bigger than an average hotel/rv park pool and people seem reluctant to swim in it so they had a lot of space to play ball and swim. The area around it is really nice. Several covered picnic areas, grass, sand with a volley ball net, lounge chairs. Very pleasant. There's even a dog swimming pond just past the people swimming pond. There is the resort side that the park side isn't allowed to use. We walked around in there and it's really pretty so if you meet the criteria to rent a pad on that side, you'd probably be very pleased. But we liked the park side. Some reviews make the park side compared to the resort side seem scuzzy and it's not. It's clean and well maintained. The staff was very nice. The boys borrowed basketballs from the office and played basketball. The office store has really reasonably priced necessities. Usually those kind of on site stores gouge you because they know you're in need of something but not here. The park is very close to Arches. Took us minutes to get to the entrance. It's not that far of a drive into town either. We made several trips for groceries and some take out. If you like Mexican, I cannot say enough how good Los Jilbertos is. It's right across from City Market and has some of the best, freshest food I've ever had! Anyway, when we find ourselves in Moad again, we will definitely stay at Portal!

Good location, North end of town away from main road, so it was quiet. No loud roudy people, lots of jeeps. Nice dog park, had a laundry, cement slabs, table at every site. Had cable TV, & free WIFI. People who ran the park we nice and friendly not rude at all.

In my 16 years of being retired I have never stayed at a RV Park with worse customer service. The owner/manager was rude and unprofessional and down right offensive. When I arrived at the park with my email confirmation in hand from them they said they had lost my reservation and the park was full. When I told him I was very disssapointed, "he said oh well leave, go" there mistake and a complete lack of consideration.

Pretty good place to camp :). Close to town without being too close. Arches National Park is only five minutes away. Canyonlands is only about thirty minutes. Sites were on the small side and had no grass but that was fine with us. Very quiet place. After a long day of hiking we were ready for bed fairly early and were able to go to sleep easily because it was so quiet. Mor shade trees would be great, especially in warmer weather. We didn't bring our dogs but noticed the fenced in dog park was a nice size to let Fido run around some. The weather was too cool this trip but we also saw a small pond nearby with chairs, it would be a great place to sit and hang out. The staff was friendly, bathrooms were decent and the nightly rate was reasonable.

We were in a rented RV--novices in every way! This place was really clean, nice and quiet. The kids played and swam in the freshwater pond and we grilled in our slot's tidy grill next to our own built in concrete slab porch perfect for lawn chairs where you can watch sunset on Moab. 5 minutes from Arches. Everyone was helpful :)

We stayed at the Portal in October in a class A. The park is very clean & well maintained. The staff we met were friendly. The sites are close together and are gravel with a concrete pad. The bathroom were clean. The location of this park is ideal. Close to town but not too close. We able to ride our bikes into town and also up to Arches. It was a little pricey, but so were the other private RV parks. We recommend this place to other RVers.
