“Good stay and clean cabins”
Reviewed April 26, 2013

Hi,

Our family, myself, wife, kid and 2 dogs has stayed at the Morris Cabins 5 times over the past 4 years in the Sunrise and the Pioneers I and II cabins. The Pioneers are a bit of a drive from town but it’s a nice pretty drive anyways but as mentioned up in the mountain cabins there is a ton of open space to explore and to do and lots of hiking biking and ATV riding! The owners are really cool and way nice to work with, they have worked with us and even drove us up other supplies that we needed! The only minor gripe for me is that I do wish is that they would allow pets in the Vista and Sunset cabins, so we are not so limited on availability to stay there just because of our dogs, we will not travel without them and one other minor thing is they need to update the TV’s to flat panels in the Mtn. Cabins but then again I understand that they may need a couple of cabins without dogs for people that have allergies, etc. and they TV thing is because we bring a PS3 with us to watch movies, games, etc. for the evening hours and for the kid. We are planning a trip there next month at the Sunrise hopefully! We just can’t wait to get down to the cabin, relax and play in Moab!

I don't feel like the facilities warrant the price. Stayed in Pioneer II with 5 others . This cabin supposedly sleeps 6. But this would entail two sleeping on futon(s) for which there was no bedding. You also should be aware that the only heat this cabin has is space heaters which don;t really cut it. It was 30 degrees outside on our arrival and not much warmer inside. Very strange that a cabin this size in the mountains doesn't have a fireplace. Other than that, it was clean and OK and the views from the deck and front porch were terrific.

Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your recent stay. We are disappointed to hear that it was less than stellar. As owners who live in Moab, we are almost always available to address any issue that comes up - we wished you would have called, at any hour. The cabin does sleep 6 guests easily with a king bed, a queen bed and 2 futons. The futon sheets are handily located near the futon in the loft (in a drawer, so as to stay clean). The 1000 square foot cabin has 4 space heaters, which are normally sufficient even with our cold Utah winters. We are sorry that the cabin did not feel warm enough upon arrival. Being that we did not build the cabin, we agree a fireplace would be a nice addition in the future.
As far as the pricing goes, our 2 bedroom log cabin in Moab for 6 guests equipped with a full kitchen, washer/ dryer, wi-fi, satellite TV and unmatched mountain and valley views is fairly priced at $209/nt + tax, plus a nominal cleaning fee of $40. So, it is difficult to understand that a 3 night stay for 1 guest could be considered pricey at a nightly rate less than $41.
Thanks again for your feedback. We hope you will give us another try soon!

2 friends and I decided to take a week long trip to Canyonland and Arches mid April. We ended up staying in the cabin for 5 nights. We were supposed to camp Mon night in Canyonland but it started snowing and raining so we left the tent and ended up in the cabin instead! I had emailed Beth to see if we could check in a day early and she responded promptly and told us the cabin was available. We stayed in and cooked dinner most nights (nothing elaborate, as the stove only had 2 electric burners and one was not leveled). We didn't get to enjoy the deck much (cabin#6) as we watched sunsets in the Park (Delicate Arch, Windows, and Garden of Eden). It was very quiet as I had opted to spend the extra $20 and get the cabin in the back and not next to the road. The futon was not comfortable so my friend just pulled the mattress off the frame and slept on the floor. That was perfectly fine. My friend Traci and I slept on the Double bed, each in our new down sleeping bags, and it was just fine. The hot water in the shower did run out one night as all 3 of us decided to shower after a long hike. It was bad, I just cut my shower short. The heater was loud but it worked well. We barely turned on the TV (and did notice it was direct TV) but most night we were out between 5-10pm for sunsets and taking night photos. I would stay here again.

Room Tip: Cabin 1-3 are next to the road and 4-6 are in the back. I'd pay extra to be in the back. We had...

Thank you for the nice review. We are pleased to hear that you had a great stay at a SW Creekside Cabin at our valley property! We were glad we had the extra night for you to add onto your stay, since the weather was blustery and cold. The cabins are a perfect fit for two guests. With additional guests, the water heater needs a bit more time to recharge. (There is a note on the refrigerator in reference to the water heater issue). The Southwest Cabins are the least expensive option, yet the SW Creekside Cabins are still budget-minded and the quieter option.
Even though there is a small back deck to enjoy the sunrises and sunsets, our guests are often out enjoying them from a more incredible vantage point, as you did. It sounds like you made the most of your stay in Moab and we hope you will come back to see us.

This place actually has two different sets of cabins to rent--a group of smaller ones right on the edge of town, and several much larger ones high up in the foothills of the La Sal Mountains above town. We stayed in the Pioneer II unit up in the foothills for three nights and liked it a lot. It was quiet and peaceful with awesome views of the mountains in one direction and out over the plateaus in the other direction. The nighttime views of the stars were equally incredible.

The one drawback, of course, is that it is nearly an hour round-trip drive to the center of Moab and back (and a little farther to the entrance of Arches National Park), and the road up to the cabin is of the winding gravel variety. If that sort of thing bothers you then you might want to stay in town instead. I was perfectly happy making the extra drive and getting started earlier each day in return for the isolation, scenery, and open space that this option gave us. To each their own!

Room Tip: There are actually four separate cabins on the property parcel that this one shares. The property is...

We stayed in a cute one bedroom. It has a well stocked kitchenette and was clean and comfy. I would stay here again. The pull out sofa in the living room was not comfortable for an adult (thin and you could feel the springs) but would be ok for kids and/or you could put an air mattress on top for more comfort. The queen bed in our bedroom was fine.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the hwy.

We stayed at the Sunrise Cabin by HWY 191. It was very handy to get right on the Highway. Which was great since we were riding motorcycles.

The Cabin was very Clean and had everything we needed. Since we had a full kitchen we only ate one meal out.

Next I would invest another few dollars and get the cabins in the mountains. Being so close to the road did make it hard to sleep the first night. But after that you got use to the traffic.

Great place to stay and you get a mini apartment instead of a drab hotel room... Great launching off place for arches and Canyonlands NP! Great early morning views. Most units are dog friendly. Up-to-date furnishings on inside!
