“Outstanding but 15 miles from city of Moab”
Reviewed October 10, 2013

There is so much to like about this place that I am going to begin with the negatives. First, it is not in Moab but about 15 miles away. The drive is spectacular but road is narrow and winding so going home in the dark after a nice evening in the city can be a challenging drive. Next, there is no cell service although free wifi on the property. Finally, the water is not good. I had major problems with my contact lenses when rinsing even in their filtered water.

With that out of the way, I can't recommend more highly. We stayed in the cabins by the lake. The view is amazing. The cabin has two nice sized bedrooms with queen beds, TV's, nice storage in drawers and closet (with robes!) There is ceiling fan, windows and heating unit. One bathroom with access from both bedrooms. The bath area is one long narrow room with toilet on one end and shower on the other. Although only one sink, there is ample counter area with drawers and hooks for stuff.

The main room of the cabin has a gas fireplace and well equipped kitchen - microwave, toaster, coffee maker and small sink. There is a nice couch that makes into a bed plus a desk area. The sliding glass door takes you outside to a spacious patio with table and 4 chairs plus two lounge chairs. You can't beat the view of the river under the big red cliffs.

This is a great place for a self contained vacation with pool, hot tub, horseback riding and lots more. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. Food was decent, although it might be boring to eat here for all meals over several days.

Room Tip: The cabins by the river are quiet and peaceful.

We were pleasantly surprised by this Lodge. Our room had a kitchen, private patio and a wonderful bed. The setting was on the Colorado River, looking up at the canyon walls on all sides. Loved this place, even though you have to drive awhile along a 2 lane winding canyon road to get there.

Red Cliffs Lodge is about an extra 30 minute drive from Moab and the national parks. However, the scenic drive and accomadations are well worth the extra time it takes to get there. The 14 mile drive is a two lane highway following the winding Colorado River along some beautiful bluffs. The Lodge is just a great place to stay when in the area. The staff members will do anything in their power to make your stay as pleasant as possible. They are all friendly and upbeat. No grouches allowed. Restaurant is good with a beautiful view of river and gorgeous sunset. Can't say enough about the scenery. Rooms are spacious but try to book king suite with view of river.
Would stay there again.

Room Tip: Book early to get king suite with river view, not queen room with very little view.

My wife and I stayed two nights at Red Cliffs Lodge as part of an Orbridge tour group. The cabins adjacent to the Colorado River were very comfortable. The food and service at the Lodge dining room were outstanding. A beautiful property in a stunning locale.

Excellent Scenery, a beautiful cabin along the Colorado River, nice restaurant and a very friendly staff. A great weekend or mid-week getaway from the world. You are only 14 miles from Moab and it's many restaurants and activities but the views and vistas from the lodge are breathtaking.

Room Tip: Regular rooms are cheaper than cabins but the cabins are well worth the price.

We have mixed feelings on this place. First, the surroundings are stunning. You really can't stay in very many places with such spectacular scenery. The restaurant was great. The winery on-site serves some fantastic reds.

We're in our late 20s and felt a little out of place at the lodge. This seemed like a hotel more suited for older couples. We didn't feel as welcomed here as we did at all other hotels across Utah.

They have many, many rules at this hotel. Everywhere we turned there seemed to be a rule and a fee for breaking it. It kind of classed down the property for us. I imagine these rules are in response to the people who break them, but come on, we're on vacation!

Our fault, but worth mentioning: We were under the impression that there were a lot of hiking and biking opportunities around the lodge. This was probably due to the photo on the website homepage featuring two mountain bikers. However, upon arrival, we were informed that we would need to drive back to Moab (20 minutes) if we wanted to rent bikes. Bummer.

My husband says he wouldn't choose to stay here again, but I might (in 20 years).

We stayed 3 nights and it was an amazing experience! We arrived in the evening and there were lights everywhere! So romantic! The rooms were clean and big with a little porch were we had a beautiful view of the Colorado river! We did horse back riding and that was so much fun! Our guide Jill was awesome! The food in the restaurant is really good, try the burgers in the lunch restaurant, so good!
