“Fantastic Stay!”
Reviewed October 20, 2012

Absolutely fantastic stay. We booked two nights in a king suite for our stay in Moab. Our view was amazing. I’m always a bit skeptical of hotels that post photos of the views from their rooms. I always just assume they post a photo of the absolute best view from the entire hotel and the reality is just disappointing. Not the case here! Our room (105) had an amazing view. The room was very well appointed, the towels were plush, and they had filtered drinking water faucets in both the bathroom sink and kitchenette sink. We also appreciated the ceiling fan, since the weather was too cool for the A/C but too warm for heat.

The hotel is located on a very scenic byway, so our drive from Moab to the hotel was just gorgeous. Red Cliffs Lodge is a bit out of the way compared to other hotels in Moab, but the view is worth it. It took us about 25 minutes to drive to Arches National Park from the hotel along the windy road that runs parallel to the Colorado River.

Just a few very minor issues. I wish they had a better sign indicating where registration was. There are several buildings on the property, and we ended up walking into the Winery thinking it was where we registered for the hotel. When you turn onto the property, turn left. Drive down the long gravel path and the registration will be on your right. I also found the lighting in the suite to be kind of dim at night.

We also had an issue with our door. A few hours into our stay, we discovered our door wouldn’t latch properly. It was no big deal as long as we were in the room because we could deadbolt it. But when leaving, we had no way of locking the door because it wouldn’t latch closed. The front desk said that maintenance had left for the day and they’d send someone by the next day. But we were planning on being at Arches by 6AM the next morning for sunrise. So they said they’d send someone over around 5AM. I was a little annoyed that they didn’t offer us a different room, (or at least say that they would offer us another room if the property was fully booked). No one ever came at 5AM to fix the door. Luckily after a lot of finagling with the door, we managed to get it locked from the outside. By the time we arrived back at the hotel that evening, our door had been fixed. Not sure when, but it was fixed.

We also had dinner one night at the hotel, and we thought it was excellent and reasonably priced.

During an early October road trip through Colorado and Southern Utah we ended up at Red Cliffs again. Compared to the place we stayed at 4 miles away this was a great value. Great location, fabulous back drop and good vibes. I love that there are 4 people behind the reception counter who are experienced and always willing and able to help. We checked in late and left early but came back for provisions and take out dinner which the female bartender handled efficiently and creatively. Sorry, but no teenage trainees, just good old fashioned service and staff members who care! Wish they had more organic or vegetarian items on the menu. If you dont't feel like parking next to monster trucks or oversized jeeps in Moab and want more of a peaceful setting, this is the place to call home!

We stayed at some wonderful places on this trip of the southwest, but non better than Red Cliffs Lodge. The rooms were spacious and very clean. Each room has a bedroom area and then down 4 steps to a kitchenette, sitting area. The Lodge is one story and every unit has a patio with table and chairs. We could walk out the little gate from the patio and be standing on the banks of the Colorado River looking at gigantic rock walls on either side. It was really beautiful. The restaurant was also very good. The only drawback is that it is located 16 miles off the main highway which takes about 20-30 minutes to drive, however, what you get for driving that distance is well worth it. They also have cabin units if you are traveling with family or friends that are also terrific.

We stayed at the Red Cliffs Lodge in April this year (bit of a late review) for 5 nights. We have 2 girls aged 8 and 10. We stayed in the 2 bedroom Creek Side cottage. These rooms were basic but very comfortable with a gas log fire to keep us warm at night. The sound of the water rushing over the rapids out the front of our cottage was gorgeous and soothing. The days were 28-30 degrees celsius and after hiking in the national parks all day we loved taking our chairs down to the banks of the colorado river just outside our cottage for a glass of wine while the girls went to see James (who looked after the horses) and feed the horses apples.

The pool was lovely and refreshing on the hot days after we had been hiking, mountain bike riding, canyoneering or horse riding - so many things to do!

The restaurant was AMAZING! The food delicious, wine delicious and the service was fantastic. The prices compared to Australian standards were reasonable, however for American standards was a bit on the pricer side....but we didn't mind because the experience was fantastic. Sitting on the balcony on a warm evening watching the sunset colours on the Colorado River and surrounding buttes was picture postcard....we now have a huge canvas up on our wall with this view so that we will never forget it.

The price of the cottage is definitely higher than we paid anywhere else on our trip (even higher than Aspen/Snowmass), but the experience was worth ever dollar.

Everyone was very friendly and accommodating and the girls made friends with a lot of the staff there, in particular James. It was best experience ever.

Other family members are going to stay here in May next year upon our recommendation as they also loved to hear the stories of our experience at Red Cliffs Lodge.

After a long day of traveling, we arrived at this oasis. Exceptional in every way - the location, the lodging, the food, the service. We had dinner on the porch overlooking the red cliffs and the Colorado River at sunset. It was the most memorable dinner of our 4,000 mile excursion. The food was superior. Our waiter, Chad Gregory, was perfect in every way. Nothing was too much trouble for him. Don't miss this stop even if you need to drive out of your way...it's worth every mile!

We stayed at the lodge in early august last summer for 2 nights and regretted so much we had to leave...
This place is just heaven.
The location is amazing, the rooms with a riverview are magic, swimming in that pool facing the huges red cliffs is a wonder.
You feel, John Wayne is going to come down on his horse to the river any minute...
The girls at the reception are the most efficient and helpful you can think of.
Picnic boxes available in the shop are a great idea, and the sandwiches were excellent.
Diner at the ranch outdoors with the incredible view on the Colorado again is just something else. The meat is great. The Chardonay from the winery is delicious.
The rafting day on the colorado including the BBQ was a hoot...
Well I just can't think of anything that went wrong during our stay.
Thank you so much ladies. Your place is fantastic. Change nothing. We'll be back !
Anne

Wow! What a great experience! Red cliffs lodge is a welcoming, relaxing and delightful place to stay. The food is excellent, particularly the breakfasts. The evenings are quiet, with a star-filled sky. This place feels like it's in the middle of nowhere, which, I guess in some ways it is, but you are less than 30 minutes from 2 national parks and the town of Moab. Every room has a great view of the Colorado river and towering red sandstone cliffs. There is a pool, horseback riding, a winery, museum and more. Try it. I think you'll like it!

Room Tip: All rooms are good, but you could request to be closer to the main lodge, if mobility is an issue.
