Owner description: From the prominence of Dead Horse Point, 2,000 feet above a gooseneck in the Colorado River, an ever changing landscape unfurls. Immense vertical cliffs meet with canyons carved by ice, water and wind creating a visual masterpiece. Plants and animals surviving on the edge of existence face many challenges of extreme conditions within this high desert environment. Stories of ancient hunters, resting along the cliff tops while knapping chert in preparation for the next hunt, and cowboys of the late 1800's, chasing wild mustangs onto Dead Horse Point, using the narrow neck to block off the natural corral . What story will you discover on your visit to Dead Horse Point State Park?

Very unexpected! Took my breath away! Husband and I did a 12 day camping trip through Utah, and I have to say, this was one of my favorites! First of all the view at dead horse point...breathtaking! I actually thought it was prettier than the grand canyon! It was amazing. The park is little, compared to the National Parks, but I would say, quality over quantity. They had great mountain biking trails, and hiking trails too! The views along the bike trails were also amazing! Hikes were too! We camped in their campground, it was nice! Very clean, restroom facilities were on point with cleanliness and comfort. Flushing toilets, single person private restrooms, clean drinking water for bottle refills. Covered patio over picnic table. Only downside was no wood fires, other than that, the campsite was almost perfect. A must visit!!

If you are traveling to Arches and Canyonlands National Park near Moab Utah, make sure to spend some time at Dead Horse Point. We went there for an early morning photo shoot and were not disappointed. The entrance to Dead Horse Point State Park is on the same road as the entrance to Canyonlands National Park. As you stand up on the mesa before sunrise, the changing vista is spectacular. The goosenecks of the Colorado River are illuminated by the rising sun as the colors and shadows shift constantly. Great cloud formations make for stunning photos. There are hiking and biking trails and campgrounds, as well as interpretive hikes with the park staff.

Another way to see the canyon and either one the way to Canyonlands or stop by when you leave. Beautiful and gorgeous view
