Owner description: From the prominence of Dead Horse Point, 2,000 feet above a gooseneck in the Colorado River, an ever changing landscape unfurls. Immense vertical cliffs meet with canyons carved by ice, water and wind creating a visual masterpiece. Plants and animals surviving on the edge of existence face many challenges of extreme conditions within this high desert environment. Stories of ancient hunters, resting along the cliff tops while knapping chert in preparation for the next hunt, and cowboys of the late 1800's, chasing wild mustangs onto Dead Horse Point, using the narrow neck to block off the natural corral . “Stunning views”
Reviewed October 1, 2013

The Dead Horse Point State Park has some stunning views!

If you can manage it, walk both the east and west rim trails. It is about 5 miles and the walk is easy most of the time and moderate occasionally. The views you will see are just amazing.

The visitors centre is very good and the park seemed well cared for.

Definitely a recommended park to visits.

“Best camp spot in the area!!”
Reviewed September 30, 2013

We have camped at Dead Horse Point for many years now and just love it. You can reserve camp sites by phone through the Utah State Park system and when you arrive, your name is on the site. Great home base for all the things to do and see. Primitive campsites have only electric hookup. but there is a dump station and water can be obtained in Moab.

There are great hikes on the mesa top plus nearby Island In The Sky district of Canyonlands National Park. Close to Arches and many easy to intermediate 4WD trails. Truly beautiful eastern vista of the La Sal mountains. The point view over the Colorado river is classic and spectacular. A spot not to be missed, you will love it

“Be sure to visit when your are nearby!”
Reviewed September 29, 2013

Originally we planned to visit Arches NP only, but I had seen some pics before leaving Hungary and they were so impressing that we decided to visit this park as well. And we did not regret it! You can spend and hour or a half day there as you wish.

Hikes are easy although there are no shade frome the sun.

Annual Interagency Pass is not valid here because it is a state park. Visitor pass is valid for 3 days.

“Not to be Missed”
Reviewed September 29, 2013

This park is beautiful. As some said previous better than the National Park in some ways. The views are amazing and so easy to get to. Trails are easy to walk and new viewing decks in some of the areas. Nice visitor center.

“Thrilling vantage point”

After seeing this point from below while boating on the Colorado river, it was fun to see it from its height as well.
