Owner description: From the prominence of Dead Horse Point, 2,000 feet above a gooseneck in the Colorado River, an ever changing landscape unfurls. Immense vertical cliffs meet with canyons carved by ice, water and wind creating a visual masterpiece. Plants and animals surviving on the edge of existence face many challenges of extreme conditions within this high desert environment. Stories of ancient hunters, resting along the cliff tops while knapping chert in preparation for the next hunt, and cowboys of the late 1800's, chasing wild mustangs onto Dead Horse Point, using the narrow neck to block off the natural corral . What story will you discover on your visit to Dead Horse Point State Park?

Wonderful for families. This is not difficult. There is a 9 mile loop. You can walk your bike down any incline that seems steep to you. We rented bikes and used a guide for the sunset rim ride. It was spectacular!! Previously I hated mountain biking because my first experience was riding down an incredibly steep trail off a lift in deer valley. That was crazy!! The trail in Moab is not frightening and just tons of fun and gorgeous views!! Also we saw many deer and rabbits at dusk.

A bit different than the other parks in the area. There is an admission charge for out of state visitors. Super vistas and a nice Visitors Center and Gift Shop.

excellent scenery. with two national parks so close by, this state park could easily be overlooked but this place is definitely worth the visit. pack a picnic lunch and stay a while.

Be sure to see the movie downstairs in visitors center. Then walk the overlook. And be sure to go all the way to DEAD HORSE POINT

Even though Canyonlands and Arches are National Parks, Dead Horse State Park is every bit as spectacular and really better site development. Incredible overlook into the canyon. Nice gift shop. Worth the $10 fee.
