Owner description: From the prominence of Dead Horse Point, 2,000 feet above a gooseneck in the Colorado River, an ever changing landscape unfurls. Immense vertical cliffs meet with canyons carved by ice, water and wind creating a visual masterpiece. Plants and animals surviving on the edge of existence face many challenges of extreme conditions within this high desert environment. Stories of ancient hunters, resting along the cliff tops while knapping chert in preparation for the next hunt, and cowboys of the late 1800's, chasing wild mustangs onto Dead Horse Point, using the narrow neck to block off the natural corral . “Don't miss it!”
Reviewed April 30, 2013

This state park is off the main road into Canyonlands and is easy to pass by. Don't! It has the most spectacular views of Canyonlands and the Colorado. There are several vantage points that one can drive to (or cycle, or better yet, walk) and it is a photographer's paradise. The park offices and shop are well-worth a visit with very helpful and knowledgeable staff. VERY highly recommended!

“Close to Arches National Park, but with totally different views.”
Reviewed April 30, 2013

If you are in Moab, don't miss Dead Horse State Park. Beautiful views of the vistas and Colorado River from the visitor center area. The name even has a little history to be told.

“single track mountain biking”
Reviewed April 21, 2013

We wanted to see this park but was running out of time. My friend wanted to mountain bike so we decided to kill 2 birds with one stone by mountain biking the intrepid loop. The scenery was very similar to Island in the Sky. We also stopped and had our picnic lunch at Dead Horse Point. It was beautiful but we could probably use another day in the park to do some hikes.

“A must see”
Reviewed April 20, 2013

I'm not sure what it was about this park but I was in complete awe of the area. Maybe because we were at a higher level then at Arches, I don't know but man what beautiful scenery.

HIGHLY recommend.

“Great Views on trials”
Reviewed April 20, 2013

This is a state park between Arches and Canyonland NP that should not be missed. The trial around the mesa gives you a incredible view of the Colorado River valley below and the La Sal Mts.
