This was a wonderful hangout. After a day of hiking, you can get a good glass of wine and great sandwiches. The staff and the locals couldn't be more friendly. A great place to visit.

The Rio is the ONLY Tavern in Moab with gluten free beer. Other pluses; Pool tables, karaoke, dance floor, two outdoor patios, walking distance to just about all lodging.

I'm a local, and hit the Rio only occasionally, the crowd is a mix of locals and tourists. However on a late night mid week visit in October, I was surprised to see Michael Schumacher and a group of his German friends shooting pool! (seven time Formula 1 World Champion). Seems Michael spends time in Moab every year to sky-dive, ATV, bike, etc. and owns property in the area. Nobody else in the bar knew who he was, just another German tourist (the worlds first sports billionaire, who made 80 million per year at the peak of his career). Keeping it on the down low, hangin at the Rio!
