if you want an upscale experience with the beauty of moab and the solitude this area has to offer then stay here. The accomadations are lovely, the staff cordial and accomadating and a pleasure to deal with. The food is a little pricey but the dining atmosphere is lovely in either the formal dining room or the bar. Walk along the Colorado river, ride a horse, mountain bike, hike or any other adventure you can think of in moab and then return to the best place to relax, wine and dine- the sorrel river ranch.

Room Tip: river view-the only way to go!

We have the highest recommendation for Sorrel River Ranch Resort!! We loved our room so much we began to call it "home", and found new things to appreciate about the resort every day. We loved the Western decor, the stunning location, the friendliness and outstanding service by the staff. (An example: when we casually asked an offhand question of the server who poured water at dinner, she returned 5 minutes later with a map and directions and information about the sight we were discussing!). The food was outstanding, from the halibut and grilled fillet dinners, to the amazing french toast at breakfast. We loved the s'mores by campfire at night, and the views of planets and stars through the high powered telescope brought by an astronomer on Thursday nights. The pool was even more lovely in person than it appears in photographs and has a hot tub with a beautiful view as well. We loved pedaling bikes to get around, or enjoyed our strolls on the water. Takes 30 minutes to get to Moab and activities that start there, but it was a scenic ride and gave an excuse to dine and visit the town. Couldn't recommend this trip any more highly!! (Our 15 year old daughter and 13 year old son felt the same way.)

Room Tip: It would have been nice to be closer to the main building and pool, but it was a relaxing walk or very short bike ride. Bikes were always available to borrow and we didn't mind it at all.

My husband and I recently stayed here for 4 nights and had a wonderful time. The property is beautiful. It only has 52 rooms so it never felt crowded. The cabins were spacious and clean and had a small kitchen (microwave, coffee and refrigerator). This was great because the ranch is 30 minutes from town so we bought breakfast items and snacks to cut down on multiple trips a day. All the staff members we encountered were so nice and helpful. We did eat at both restaurants. One is casual and the other a bit fancier. Both had pretty good food but a bit pricey and not a huge menu selection. We didn't travel with kids but they offer a nightly campfire with s'mores kits that seemed to be a big hit with the kids and families. The property has 40 or so horses that were beautiful. It is about a 30 minute drive to Arches National Park. We would definitely recommend this property!

Sorrel River Ranch (SRR) is spectacular. SRR is situated in one of the rare open plain areas surrounded by gorgeous red cliffs, mountains, buttes, canyons, and of course, the Colorado River. The River is so close that if you are not careful walking back to your room in the dark of night, you will fall in. The Colorado runs red in this portion due to the ubiquitous red sandstone, and sand, and provides a soothing backdrop for a remarkably relaxing stay. There are only about 50 rooms at the Resort, amply staffed by an international staff - many of whom are in their 20s and seem to be working for the summer. The atmosphere is both active - there are ample opportunities for guided or personal adventures (we opted for the later with some unbelievable hikes in nearby Arches National Park) including horseback riding (the ranch is right there, with horses stabled nearby), tennis, swimming, hiking, rafting and the rest. The evenings close up early, and the muted lighting enables an amazing view of the stars - although leads to the need for flashlights or lanterns to make your way about. The entire ambience is of a quiet sense of beauty and calm, buttressed by the enormity of the surrounding terrain. The restaurant is fresh and healthy, and we particularly liked the breakfast and vegetables - most grown on-site. Two caveats. First, be aware that some of the luxury rooms steps from the River are two story. We selected the bottom floor to have instant access to the River, but became aware of how audible our upstairs neighbors were in the morning, or when a new renter arrived, with a small dog. The staff was most accommodating to our concerns about noise and moved us to a smaller room looking at the mountains - but with no upstairs neighbors. We plan to go back, and will make sure we are in a one-story unit, or book the upstairs room. Second, be aware that you are a decent distance from Moab, probably a 20-30 minute drive. Many of your meals will therefore be at the Restaurant at the Ranch, which is both delicious and expensive. I would suggest a few down-scale items and some greater variety in the selection. Mostly, though, these are comments that should not deter you from enjoying one of our favorite stops in the West.

Room Tip: I would suggest booking a room either on the top floor or in a one story building. Our experience is that the noise on the first floor from the renters above can undercut one of the Resort's most precious assets - quiet and calm relaxation.

The beauty of this place, the friendliness of the staff, and the "Yes we can" attitude we encountered made this place a haven for a much needed family vacation.

We came to relax, but exhausted ourselves with physical adventures that Moab offers. The adventure coordinators made our fun possible with outstanding and unforgettable events from rafting, horseback riding, canyoneering, atv rentals, mountain biking, and more.

The memories we made are unforgettable.

The Wi-fi was satellite based - sufficient for emails if needed, but not stable enough for streaming any video. No complaint, that is just the way it was.
