“The Serrano Chile in the Colorado Roll Killed the Other Flavors”
Reviewed November 6, 2013

Whenever we go to Moab, we try to stop for sushi here. And it's usually pretty good. This time was disappointing, from the service to the food. The Colorado roll had enough Serrano chile (including the seeds) on top to completely annihilate any other flavors that tried to make an appearance. Boo to that. The good thing is, there's a wonderful little Thai restaurant next door.

“Unexpected pleasure in Moab, Utah”
Reviewed October 30, 2013

Moab is a small town in the remote and stunningly beautiful red-rock canyon desert of south-eastern Utah some 4 1/2 hours' drive from Salt Lake City's airport. Whether visitor or Moab resident (as I am), it is an unexpected privilege and pleasure to find invariably high quality, freshly prepared, and artfully presented sushi, sashimi and other traditional Japanese selections along with comparable fusion offerings. The owners and staff are friendly, skilled and attentive. In my experience (a former Seattle area resident) the prices may be a bit higher than in big West Coast cities, but are well worth it. I frequent Sabaku Sushi a couple times per month either solo or with friends.

“Great sushi?! In the desert?!”
Reviewed October 24, 2013 via mobile

Being from the west coast, I've dined at a variety of sushi bars and restaurants, and have generally found that the farther from the ocean I am, the lower the quality. Sabaku Sushi proved me otherwise. The fish was fresher than many coastal sushi bars (flown in overnight from Hawaii), the service was attentive, and presentation was impeccable. Even during a busy dinner rush, we were quickly seated, brought drinks and had food within 15 minutes. Some people have complained about price, but, for me, $7-12 for a freshly prepared, amazingly tasty roll in the middle of the desert is worth every penny.

I was all kinds of skeptical about this place, but it was actually among some of the best sushi I've had.

“Excellent food and service”
Reviewed October 23, 2013

It was FRESH and FABULOUS!
Sabaku had a pleasant atmosphere and great service, we went for there for my son's birthday and the staff made an effort to make it special. I would highly recommend it for a fun night out.
