“Nice Property but”
Reviewed September 23, 2011

Stayed only 1 night in Kenzie's Cottage. Opted to stay based on prior reviews, bug-free, own another property and support of friends in business together. Had a difficult time finding but I should have checked the website prior to leaving. (We should have known better when we asked a cop about the place and he laughed and said good luck.) The cabins and property were lovely. You are welcome to the herbs and tomatoes. They also have roses, lavender and other nice landscaping making the property seem bigger and private. Decor was nice, very potterybarn(ish) rather than authentic. Bedroom and bathroom were small but shower was big (rainshower head). Cottage was clean.
When we arrived, there was no electricity. (They leave the keys in a lockbox for you, convenient for late travelers but an issue if you need to speak with someone) We left a message for them but found the fuse box ourselves. Called them back to let them know. We did not ask for them to call us back but it would have added a lot of value if they had simply called to appologize or just to make sure everything else was ok. As a result, had to run to the store and get ice for my mother's medicine since the frig was too hot. Expect a list of instructions when you get there for cleaning, how to use amenities and do not call them about cable. While you still need to clean the frig, counters and dishes, the good news is you no longer have to strip the bed of the linens and an envelope is conveniently left so you can tip those that cleaned the rest up. They have DirectTV but no instructions or channel guide - I do not have DirectTV so when it went out, we just left it off. They provide a 1800 for DirectTV in anticipation of the problems and are very clear about not contacting them about it. (They may want to move the cable box so the remote can be used and TV is not blocking.) Although they provided coffee, cream and english muffins, we did not get the opportunity to enjoy due to fear of spoilage and lack of knowledge to operate a french press coffee machine. A bar, Rio, is a block, away so at night you hear the music outside but not in the cottage. There is also a cat there - I love animals, even had the cat from another lodge sleep with me, BUT this cat followed me around meowing the whole time (it was quiet only when you pet it). When I ignored it, it would keep blocking my path laying down for a belly rub like a dog as well as climbing all over the vehicle. The people next to us smoked so the lovely unexpected deck for the Kenzie's cottage went unused. We never met or spoke with the owners.
I got the feeling this was more of an investement for them rather than a passion (and talent) for being cottage/lodging owners. They try on the little things, the garden is lovely but it is more a a self-catering cottage lacking in service. (Granted we only stayed for 1 night but maybe that was what they were thinking too!)

We appreciate receiving customer feedback, even when it is not flattering. It helps us to grow and improve. Based on this review, we have changed some of our policies. We previously asked our guests to clean their own dishes and strip the beds before checking out. We now realize that this wasn't such a good idea. We want our guests to relax and enjoy their vacation and not to feel that they have work to do!

Our cottages are set-up to self check-in. Because of this, we appeal more to independent travelers. We now give more clear instruction on how to use the amenities in the cottage without giving the impression that we don't want to be called. This was never our intention. We do regret not calling this customer back about the power outage (a rare event), even though they called to say everything was OK. We would like to assure future guests that we care very much about customer service and that we strive to provide an enjoyble and worry free stay.

Our cottage was absolutely darling! Just one well equipped bedroom with an adjoining bathroom set in the middle of a lovely garden. The tiny cottage was equipped with everything you might need, including a coffee pot, fridge, microwave and glassware. There was a private sitting area oudoors, along with a shared hot tub. The bed was comfortable with nice linens, pillows and towels. The shower was not only architecturally interesting, but felt great after an afternoon of hiking.

The cottages were very centrally located, jut a block or so from the main street in Moab.

The only negative thing I could say is that I was surprised that the rooms are cleaned only every 8 days. When I'm on vacation I don't mind making my own bed, but I do like fresh linens daily. (I did think it was funny that an envelope for the "tip for housekeeping" was included even though there was NO housekeeping!) The note also asked that you clean up your own cups, etc., which explains why none of the coffee mugs or the pot seemed very clean. I'm guesing they're usually only rinsed rather than cleaned well. Wifi was spotty.

The owners were very friendly and helpful and I truely LOVED our cottage. If I could, I would build one exactly like it on my own property to accomodate guests.

If we ever go back to Moab we'll be sure to stay at 3 Dogs and a Moose.

Room Tip: Our tiny cottage, the McKenzie was perfect for a couple. I did not see the interior of the larger co...

We stayed in the large Moosewood cottage for three nights in early August, two adults and two kids (8 and 5). This is a really nice place to stay in Moab and we would recommend it highly.

First, it's in a great location. In a little side street, its extremely quiet, with plenty of parking, yet only 5 minutes walk to Main St and all it's shops and restaurants. Second, the apartment has a great "Moab" feel to it. It's a charming cottage with some really nice touches. It's not a massive apartment, but it handled everyone well. The bedrooms are modest, but the two double bedrooms have enough space. The twin bedroom is in a little room with no storage (well, there is a little space under the beds), but it's a cute room. Perhaps more for kids than adults.

The kitchen is massive and very well equipped for cooking. Shame there is no dishwasher, but there are two huge sinks so washing up was easy. There is also no clothes washer, which is the only real complaint of the trip. For a cottage which could easily be a base for many people for a week or more, the lack of a laundry is felt. The owner has mentioned a laundry is coming later this year, but there is a ton of space in the kitchen and a clothes washer could have easily fitted in there. The bathroom is small, but fine with a very good shower. Apparently there is a second external bathroom, but we never used it (I never even went looking for it). Not sure of it's purpose - could have made a good shared laundry!

There is a large living and dining room, with plenty of space, a flat screen TV, DVD and cable. There is free WIFI, but it's not overly fast and the signal strength is variable (great in the kitchen, almost nil on the sofa in the living room). There is a large ducted air con in the living room which is responsible for cooling the entire house. It does a pretty good job of it, backed up by floor fans in the two double rooms. The twin room didn't have any fan and did get a bit hot if the door was shut (which it needed to be for kids going to bed before adults). Admittedly it was very hot during our stay (>100 in the afternoon).

There is a ton of outdoor space, as the grounds are shared with a few other small cottages. It's all very well kept with plenty of seating options. We barely saw (and never heard) people staying in the other cottages.

This was a very good stay and a great base to retire to after long hot walks in the nearby National Parks. We would definitely recommend staying here over a hotel or motel - better location, lots of room and a real feel for this lovely town.

We stayed in Bogie's Bungalow for a week. The cottage was perfectly decorated and incredibly clean when we arrived. We could walk to restaurants. The gardens and patio were a perfect place to relax after hiking, biking, and rafting.

We arrived for a two night stay not knowing what to expect. We booked Kenzie's cottage and it looked tiny from the outside. Once we opened the door, we were pleasantly surprised and amazed that so many amenities could exist in such a small place. The shower was huge, the bed comfy, and every amenity was provided. English muffins, butter, jelly and coffee were in the included mini fridge. There was also a microwave, coffeemaker, and satellite tv and wi-fi. There is a community hot tub and grill, and each cottage has it's own designated parking and patio area. Perfect for our needs, we saw but never heard any other guests. We were able to walk downtown to shops and restaurants. Very reasonably priced for all that you get. Hope to be back.

We stayed 10 days at the French Quarter cottage in the 3 Dogs and a Moose "resort".
This cottage was superbe, clean, cozy, we felt at home rigth away.
A king bed and 2 single beds in an open space on second floor and a king couch-bed very, very comfortable. Stays very cool even in hot days, the colors and decorations are really beautifull and relaxing.
All the details are there, a nice inner court where the other cottages are, jacuzy, BBQ, hamoc, everything needed, Full of trees and birds.
Denice (one of the owner) was always there ready to help and taking care of the place!
It's just a corner away from city center (Main & Central) so it's quiet, but very close to all services and nightlife.
A very nice place to stay after a day of fun in the outdoor paradise of Moab!

Room Tip: French Quarter is the biggest and better cottage
