“Make sure to visit Castle valley”
Reviewed April 13, 2012

Drive into the valley to get a phenomenal view of the La Sal mountains. If you have the time, do the full loop.

“Relaxing and easy drive”
Reviewed April 11, 2012

A great way to get away and cool off. Hiking and biking are perfect for the side roads from the main drive.

“What a view”

Scenic road - glad I didn't have to drive since I don't like heights. Well worth the trip.

“Spring break 2012”
Reviewed April 1, 2012

My son and I visited in mid March. If you have a problem with heights don't do it. I recommend entering from the south entrance as you will be against the mountain side most of the time while driving. Parts did have ice and snow that time of the year, check at the Moab visitors center for road conditions. You will end the loop descending into the Castle Valley. Beautiful. Stop off at the Red Cliffs Lodge and winery where the loop hits Hwy 128(14 miles back to Moab from this intersection). They have a small and interesting movie museum also. The drive back to Moab on 128 is also cool as you follow the Colorado River through a canyon. We had a Toyota Rav4' 4wd. I would not want to drive anything much bigger as ther pe are very tight hair pins on the road. The lakes were closed at the time of year we were there. Beautiful view of the Moab area and Castle valley. At that time of year, there is no real place to stop so it is pretty much a senic drive, probably different in warmer weather. It is was good break for us from hiking which we did every day. It took less than 2 hours, and there was little to no traffic when we went.
