“Amazing views”
Reviewed June 8, 2013

Hard to imagine after seeing Arches, Dead Horse Point and Canyonlands that there would be something else to call stunning but this scenic drive is it. If you have a little extra time, it's well worth it. The views of the Colorado River winding through the red cliffs ae amazing. Plenty of places to stop and stare and take pictures. Was a great addition to our trip.

“Short Cut NOT Short on Sights”
Reviewed May 28, 2013

This is a "short cut" to Moab for travelers coming from the Grand Junction area. Making the correct turn at Cisco (a ghost town) requires attention, but with that one exception, this is a route filled with delight rather than worry. It's probably only about 10 minutes longer than the Freeway route, but the numerous photography stops adds quite a bit more time. When time is not a factor in getting from one place to another, this is the kind of route you want to drive. Like Rt. 179 South and Oakwood Canyon in Sedona: every turn reveals a new visual delight.

“DONT MISS Scenic Byway 128”
Reviewed May 21, 2013

Beautiful drive along Colorado River for miles and miles, through spectacular red canyon cliffs. Totally free. Many overlooks and pullouts along the way. It was fun to watch the river rafters from overlooks. NOTE TO CAMPERS... We drove north out of Moab at 1pm Friday, May 17th, and most camp grounds were near empty, shaded by trees, near sandy beaches, right beside the river! Campsites were $10 - $15, first come, choose your own. We drove back south about 3pm and campsites were filling fast, but many were still available. Even group sites were avail. We are not campers, but it looked like fun.

“This is why they call SR 128 a Scenic Byway”
Reviewed November 29, 2012

This Scenic Byway has minor elevation change and winding along the breathtaking Colorado River Valley. The rocks, river, trees huge redrock cliffs and beaches provide a unique driving experience in the area. My only encounter of a dozen wild big horn sheep was along the roadside here.

“The slow road is worth the extra time”
Reviewed November 26, 2012

I'll often hurry to Moab via 191, but take the slow road back home. Several times we'll stop at one of the many picnic areas and campgrounds for a riverside lunch with views of the surrounding canyon walls.

I'm eager to return and put rafts or kayaks in the Colorado River and take time to cruise the river slowly.
