This road is very close to Moab (Potash road on the left, right after you cross the river) and is a drive through history. There are Indian drawings all along this route. There are signs pointing some of these out along the road but if you get off the beaten path there are a lot more to be discovered. We turned around at the dinosaur tracks parking lot. Here you can view several dinosaur tracks in a big rock that has dislodged from higher up. Climb up and take some pictures, it is hard to believe that at one time the river was at the top of these cliffs and has eroded down until its present location. An easy short drive from Moab and well worth it.

we started in the morning- the sun really lit up the the walls that go straight up from the road!!! awesome! the petroglyphs are actually on the road. they were super easy to find thanks to signs simple saying "indian writing." the poison spider trail parking area is were you see the dinosaur prints. there is a great sign telling you were it is. keep your eye on it as you are leaving to go back down to the road- right before you go down the drive is the best spot for a picture. continue down potash road and you'll find jug handle arch. the colorado river is next to you the entire way- it is such a beautiful drive and everything is on top of the top road-- no hiking required! and takes very little time (unless you keep driving to shafer road and that is a fun but brutal 4x4 road!!!)

We camped on Potash just past the climbing walls. Lots of neat camp spots if you can get there early enough. You can just hang at camp, check out the scenery or watch the people climbing. When the river is lower there is probably a lot more to do.

Loved checking the petroglyphs along this road up to the Potash ponds. The ponds themselves are interesting - very blue because of the dye added to aid in the evaporation process. Great views from some of the higher areas.

A great place to view the rock cliffs, and the Colorado River. There are rock climbers, cyclists, and off-road places to explore. Also indian writings on the walls. Just look out for the high speed semi trucks that use this road.
