“Indian Drawings”

So glad we took the side trip off of route 191! The indian drawings on the canyon walls were amazing to see. I was sad to see that people have defaced them though:(

“Potash Road Rock Art”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 26, 2013

Potash Road is a flat, well-paved drive just to the north of Moab. Along the way, there are 3 well-marked pull-outs where you can view Anasazi rock art (petroglyphs) which have been carved into the rock. The glyphs are generally about 20-15 feet above the roadway, so you have to look carefully for them, but the signage and pullouts along the road help you to find them without too much effort. This is an easy, pleasant drive to take after a long day's hike.

“Wow, what an experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 21, 2013

Travelling the Potash Road is a lifetime-experience, especially for someone from Europe where 99% of the roads are well build. We definitely suggest a 4-wheel drive and time for a 2.5 hour drive, although Park Rangers say that it is only 1.5 hour ride - which is only true if you comply with the speed limit of 15 mph - which you can't in most of the places.

“Amazing petroglyphs”

Great to see these ancient rock art sites. Completely unprotected at the road side so we hope they last!

“Free, limited walking, and amazing sites”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 11, 2013

The road follows the Colorado River. Along the way there are signs pointing out locations of petroglyphs - two bow and arrow hunters vs a bear is our favorite. There is also a site to view dinosaur tracks. A small hike allows you to get closer to view them up close.
