The Gonzo Inn
Ranked #5 of 37 Hotels in Moab
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed September 19, 2012

Geared towards adventure travelers, the Gonzo Inn hits all the right amenities, and is comfortable, too. We stayed three nights in September 2012. Prices are comparable to other top-rated Moab hotels, but the Gonzo's convienent location and independent extras make it the best choice. Plus, most of the staff is friendly and responsive. When a neighboring room was playing Adele at 110 decibels at 10pm, we called the front desk and they asked that room to turn down the music.

Here's a quick list of highlights:
>Long pool and hot-tub hours, and very clean facility
>Excellent hot and cold breakfast choices, including biscuits and gravy
>Bike locker room and outside maintenance and wash station
>Very comfortable beds, and large bathrooms
>Walkable to numerous lunch and dinner eating choices, including Moab Diner and Jax

I will say that the rooms are not very toddler friendly, with low tables, lots of metal fixtures (hooks, bath bars, toilet paper holder) at toddler head level, and a heater/AC unit that is on the floor (our kid set off the smoke alarm by turning on the heater and burning the dust that had accumilated on the coils). Do a safety check when you first arrive if you have kids.

Room Tip: West facing rooms get lots of PM sun and heat buildup. Turn on the AC before you leave for the day.

We enjoyed our stay at the Gonzo Inn. Lots of "plusses" for this place"
1.) Location is very great. Centrally located, but off the main road far enough. Close to the bike path.
2.) Pool was very enjoyable on a warm fall afternooon
3.) Room size was great - very large and roomy. Bathroom also much larger that you normally get in hotel room
4.) Bed very comfortable
5.) Service from front desk was great

Nothing "negative" to report

We stayed seven nights at the Gonzo Inn and absolutely loved it. Here's why -

1) Super convenient location within walking distance to the shops and restaurants in downtown Moab. Also on a quiet side street vs on Main Street
2) The rooms. We stayed in a Gecko Suite which was roomy and comfortable. The bathroom was really big with two sinks, a jacuzzi tub and shower. There was also a separate living room area with gas fireplace and a kitchenette. It was perfect for enjoying a cup of coffee in the AM or ordering dinner in at night after a long day of hiking! The room was very clean and the decor is appropriate for the area. The bed was comfortable with a down comforter and lots of pillows. We could hear the people above us and had some challenges getting the room temperature right.
3) the pool and hot tub are a welcome sight after a day of activity in the hot sun and sandy desert.
4) laundry room was a nice amenity which we used twice during our stay.
5) breakfast is included with your stay. It offers cereal, muffins, biscuits and gravy - among other things.

If you are looking for a funky yet comfortable place to stay in downtown Moab, stay here. We will be back if we find ourselves visiting Moab in the future!

Room Tip: If you can stay on the second floor, it may be quieter. If you can afford a little extra for the Ge...

I arrived late evening after a 9-hour drive from Phoenix and emotional day of dropping my first born off at college. Made the reservation the night before...Have stayed at Gonzo before prior to running a half marathon. First time, I felt like it was way overpriced for the room and luxury sell. But this time, I just loved everything about it - from the quick and easy check in to the allowance of the late check out so I could meet work deadlines. It truly felt like a quiet refuge. The best thing - I forgot my iPhone charger in the room... after check out and working in the breakfast using the free internet for a few hours, I came out to my car and the maid hung my charger on the door handle! I was thrilled! Nice touch. I will always go back to Gonzo.

Our family travels to Moab about every other year for all the beautiful outdoor activities. We love to stay at the Gonzo for it's great downtown location, clean, funky modern rooms and the convenient breakfast room. The Gonzo is also dog friendly in case your furry family is traveling along.

Only stayed here for 1 night but found the location in Moab excellent. In the middle of town but on a very quiet side street. Our suite was HUGE with an outside seating area overlooking a lovely garden. It had a very quirky kitchen area, sitting room, a bedroom with a massive bed and a beautiful bathroom. Breakfast was included and had a really good selection (very good coffee). The breakfast room was extremely quiet, it was a very relaxing experience. Despite it being a tad expensive we would definitely stay at the Gonzo again.

We stayed here for one night before a river trip. The hotel is located on a quiet side street, off the main drag of shops and restaurants. The landscaping around the entrance and pool is beautiful! The rooms and bathrooms are spacious and comfortable. The breakfast room is also nicely spread out.
