“Best B&B”
Reviewed June 12, 2008

The Mayor's House set an entirely new standard for B&Bs, as far as my husband and I were concerned. Our hosts, Cary and David, were welcoming and chatting with them was immediately effortless and comfortable. Their house is very stylish but also inviting. During our visit most of the guests were the active, outdoors-y sort, and Cary and David knew the ins and outs of Canyonlands, Arches, and many other less-well-known hiking/mountain-biking spots in the area and were happy to share their favorites. In the mornings, over absolutely delicious and distinct breakfasts, we guests discussed the hikes we'd done and were planning to do. We were only in Moab for two nights and when it was time to leave we actually felt sad - we could have stayed at the Mayor's House for two weeks; it truly felt like a home away from home in just a short time.

Located within walking distance of downtown Moab, this lovely B&B offers a delightfully quiet and tranquil lodging experience. Our room was immaculately clean and beautifully decorated. The hosts, Car and Bob, create a fantastic breakfast each morning, and provide plenty of helpful tips for visiting attractions in the area. The grounds are beautiful, and contain a swimming pool and hot tub. Coffee is available early before breakfast; very nice for us as we like to stroll around early for some bird watching.

The Mayor's House B&B is a wonderful place and the property is very well kept inside and out. The gardens are beautiful and well cared for and are a great place to relax after an adventurous day in the area. There is a pool and hot tub which come in handy. The inside of the house is immaculate and decorated with a western theme. We stayed in the Country Room which is fairly small but never spent much time in it due to all the local things to do.The hosts are very helpful with suggestions on where to eat and what to do. The breakfasts are the highlight of the stay. They will definitely fill you up for your active days in the Moab area. We were there a week and the meals included blueberry pancakes, waffles, a frittata, eggs, fruit, muffins, yogurt with granola, coffee, tea, juice and more. This B&B is a diamond in the rough.

We had a lovely stay at the Mayor's House in the Indian room. We spent most of our time hiking, so we did not have time to enjoy the outdoor hot tub or the video library. Our room was spacious, with lots of closet and drawer space, a large bathroom, and a jetted tub. It was a quick drive to Arches and Canyonlands national parks and close to the downtown restaurants. Our hosts were very helpful with dining and hiking suggestions, and they graciously gave us an early breakfast one morning so that we could make one early 4 x 4/jet boat combo tour (however, we missed the French toast offered to the whole group). Breakfasts were delicious and hearty, with fruit, an egg entree, and a starch entree or side each day. We enjoyed sitting family style with other guests. The only minor complaint is that the Indian room is on the lower level, so it does get a little noisy in the morning with the upstairs traffic.

We spent three nights here in the Country Room. The bed was so comfortable and cozy, and the room was clean and well-kept. The location of the B&B is only a couple of blocks from downtown, but it was great being tucked away on a quiet street. It was truly peaceful and relaxing! In addition, the B&B is just located minutes from Arches and about half an hour from Canyonlands. Carey and David were wonderful and gracious hosts! Carey's breakfasts in the morning were fabulous! I looked forward everyday to a morning culinary delight! The backyard was nicely landscaped, and there is a pool (closed for the season when we were there) and a hot tub (regretfully not used by us). This place is indeed a little oasis. Highly recommended. We can't wait to stay here again.

The Indian Room was comfortable with a huge bathroom. I could make a cup of tea any time in the kitchen and we either sat on the balcony outside or in the beautiful guest lounge. Carey and David were excellent hosts and the breakfasts can only be described as 'gourmet'. Special wishes were catered to with no fuss. The large pool is beautifully set in a quiet garden with plenty of loungers to sunbathe on.

We do not usually stay at B&B's, but after this experience we will do it more often, if not entirely. We stayed in the Peach room which is in the lower level with a separate entrance. The room was extremely clean and well cared for. The beds were very comfortable and the bathroom, including jetted tub, was very spacious and very clean.
The highlight of the day for us was the breakfast, which was freshly prepared and changed each day of the five days we stayed there.
This is an excellent way to start the day since we were fueled and ready to handle the morning hikes and afternoon scenic drives that we did every day. The breakfast table seats 14, and we found that the morning conversations with other guests were very interesting and helpful with travel hints. Both owners, Terry and David, gave their valued and experienced guidance and recommendations and also local stories and history of the area.
The grounds were very well kept and and very relaxing. We would highly recommend this B&b to everyone seeking a restful, relaxed, and quality experience off the beaten path. There were no negatives to this stay, and the hosts were very helpful and there when you needed them.
