Poor service, not great food. We were visiting Harpers Ferry and thought this would be a good spot for lunch. Interesting history of name of place, but really that ends the good review. It was not that busy and from what we witnessed, while waiting for our server, is it is not organized. Our waiter had tables and inside and out of the deck as did the other wait staff. They were all over and we had to wait about 10 minutes before our waiter even made it to us for drink orders which we placed along with our lunch orders since we didn't know if we would see him again. It took 25 minutes to get a turkey sandwich and burger. Another 5 minutes for hi. To come back with a ketchup bottle and we never saw our mustard... There is no follow up or "will there be anything else?" and we had to get up to get his attention for a bill of which you have to stand in line at the bar to pay the bartender for the inflated price of eating in an old building. $30 for a buger with fries, a turkey sandwich with potato chips and 2 iced teas... I could not tell you our waiter's name since he never introduced himself...
There are a bunch more choices and I would sugest anyone to try something else...

We went here w some friends while we were visiting town. There was one server for the whole place. She was not very friendly. We got our beers quick and ordered our food when she brought the drinks. Three burgers and a steak sandwich (all w fries) took 45 minutes at least to get. And when we got it I felt the steak was dry on the sandwich. I think there was only one cool as well. The burgers and sandwiches were priced well, but if you want an entree be ready to spend at least $16. I wouldn't recommend.

The deck is lovely and has a nice view. The day we were there the service was fine. We had burgers and fries and they were good. However, the server said according to state rules they can not serve rare hamburger so all burgers had to be medium.

Busy Saturday afternoon, had a burger & fries. The burger wasn't as ordered and the fries were ice cold. Service was mediocre. It is a beautiful location and the "Almost Heaven" ale almost made it worth the price of admission. Stick to the beer, avoid the food. It's pricey for what you get.

It was a beautiful day to go sit out on the deck and overlook Harpers Ferry so we chose the Tavern. After we were seated, it took at least 15 minutes to have a server come to take our order. In the meantime, there were dirty tables and dishes all around us. We watched one server/bus boy take a portion of the dirty dishes, then another server take another portion. As we wrapped up our stay, the table next to us still wasn't 100% cleared.

As we were waiting to be served, we watched 4 other couples get seated and during our time, they also had a difficult time being waited on. I also noticed the amount of dogs allowed on the deck. I understand trying to cater to your customers but at one point in time, I thought I was sitting in a kennel versus a Tavern.

All in all, the Tavern took care of our needs but there are a few other places to visit before we would feel the need to go back.
