I spent a wonderful Spring day in April 2011 at West Ridge Hollow B&B, with my wife and a friend of ours. The house is perched on a forested cliff, with an intimate view of the trees and the narrow valley below.
The rooms and bathrooms are modern and tastefully decorated with bright colors and Mexican memorabilia that welcome you with cheerfulness. They are a refreshing change from the heavy pseudo-Victorian style of many B&Bs.
But the biggest surprise of our trip were the hosts Peggy and Jay. They truly treated us as friends, and we were invited to an impromptu walk in the forest, along paths discovered and maintained by Jay, that brought us all to a secluded and stunning view of the Potomac, Harpers Ferry, and the hills surrounding it.
The day after we had a satisfying breakfast and we left, not without regret. We will remember the loveliness of the setting and the sincere warmth of the hosts!
