“Nice atmosphere, excellent service”
Reviewed November 10, 2013

This is a quaint old house and makes for a nice dinner choice. If you are looking for a fancy meal or interesting flavors, this might not be the choice for you, but if you want a relaxing meal and great, friendly & attentive service, then this is the place. They had a fire going--very nice--and the dessert was amazing!

“hearty and healthy”
Reviewed October 26, 2013

Ate here two nights in a row while visiting and bicycling the area. Yes the menu is short but everything is fresh and well prepared. Enjoyed the homemade bread too. The food is reasonably priced. The menu is different every night because they use fresh and seasonal items. Your stomach is full when you leave, but it feels good!!!

“Great food and service!”
Reviewed October 16, 2013

This was the first place we went to eat during our trip to Harper's Ferry. It was a nice romantic atmosphere and our server was very attentive and friendly. The food was amazing! I wish they had more choices on their menu, but I understand that for a place that small, it's hard to have a big menu.
The only thing that keeps me from giving it 5 stars is the corkage fee. I brought a beer with me since we were staying close by and I knew it was BYOB. Did not realize I had to pay $5 for bringing a beer in. $5 was more than I paid for the actual beer. So just know that, no matter what alcohol you bring, the "corkage fee" applies.
Aside from that, it was perfect and we will definitely return on our next trip. Highly recommend, especially on a Friday night, because it wasn't too crowded.

“What A Delight”
Reviewed October 12, 2013

We were staying at the Quality Inn up the street on Saturday, 10/5 and went into their dining room to get a bite to eat. The noise was high and the tobacco stench was overpowering. Our about face was abrupt. We had driven by the Canal House the previous evening and I suggested giving it a try.

We were delighted! The food was mouth watering, the hostess/waitress delightful, the setting charming and the chef talented. The chef, by the way, was wearing a Wegmans hat that he acquired while working at the flagship Wegmans 3 miles from our home in Rochester, NY. Wegmans is good, but your chef brought a huge amount of talent of his own to your cafe.

If we lived near by, we'd become regulars. Keep up the great work. This was the highlight of our seven day road trip, by far!

“Deliciously different”
Reviewed September 26, 2013 via mobile

Menu is a little limited, but the quality, staff, and ambiance more than make up for it. The waitress was warm, efficient, and friendly. Fresh, locally grown and organic ingredients make for a wonderful difference. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Treat yourself. Eat here.
