“Fun for First Timers”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 21, 2009

I recently had the opportunity to experience the Shenandoah River with a guided tour provided by River Riders. The day proved to be a lot of fun and I would recommend this trip to those looking to experience kayaking for the first time. The adventure was approximately seven miles and took about four hours round trip.

The staff at River Riders was friendly, organized, and efficient. They provided you with everything that you needed including a helmet, life jacket, paddle, and an inflatable kayak. After viewing a brief instructional video on safety, you received your gear, boarded the bus, and were on your way.

The initial part of the guided tour was flat water which gave you the opportunity to orient yourself with the kayak. When the white water did arrive it did break the monotony of the flat water. The rapids were fun and at times could be challenging. Yet, they would not intimidate most people, especially the diehard, thrill seeking type.

Overall, the experience was a lot of fun. Our tour guide was awesome and again I would recommend this trip to anyone wanting to experience kayaking for the first time.

Pros:
Fun way to experience kayaking
Professional, friendly staff
A great way to spend your day

Cons:
Too much flat water at times
Carrying kayak back to the bus could be challenging for some

5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 20, 2009

I had never been rafting before and was a little aprehensive. My daughter talked me into going, and I am so gald she did, we had a wonderful time! (I'm 52 she's 22)

The staff are all and extremly friendly and helpful. They also know the river and exactly how to navigate it very well. I was very inpressed with all the saftey precautions and the way all the guides worked together.

I'm really looking forward to doing it again!

“Awesome Day Out”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 30, 2009

Jun 26th with two buddies, had the experience of a lifetime kayaying in a duckie on the Shenandoah River. Guide Nick was great as were the other guides. The weather was beautiful and scenery breathtaking. We would recommend this if you like the great outdoors.

“Great Experience - For all ages and skill level!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 8, 2009

River Riders has something for literally everyone. We took a flat water tubing trip with our 2 kids (age 4 and 6) on June 7th and it was a blast! River Riders is very professional, you can tell the owners take great care to make it a real company and not a side of the road tubing site. They offer everything from kayaking, white water rafting and tubing, and flat water tubing. Their check in staff is friendly and super helpful. They will answer all of your questions with a smile. The drivers (we had Nick) can provide a wealth of information, are very nice, and helpful as well. We bought a season pass and plan to go again very soon. We will also recommend River Riders to all of our friends.

“A must do trip for any group!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 2, 2009

What an awesome trip for the senior class of 2009 from Richmond Christian! We included River Riders on a week long road trip, and we are wishing now that we had stayed for two days and did the tubing or rafting again! The staff set at ease our most fearful students, and then they challenged our more adventurous ones with surfing. Even our chaperones manned a boat and had a blast. The guides were incredible and fun! The students all raved about their own guides, who navigated and informed us of local history and sights. We had so much fun! Everyone talks about whtie water rafting, but now we've done it, and they are talking about it! A must do for your group...we will be back!
