This was our home base for visiting the Apostle Islands Ice Caves.
Basic rooms. Ours had a fridge, microwave, fan, additional heater.
Good beds, good tv. We only spent about 8 hours in the room each day, mainly for sleeping.
During the summer months has a great view of Lake Superior.
Host was casual/laid-back. Area is busy do to ice caves, reservations are probably recommended.
Not wanted to "rough it" at our cabin (no running water) my daughter "found" Seagull Bay Motel. They LOVED IT and their stay couldn't have been any better (including the weather!). The staff was wonderful to our family and very accommodating. Love, love, love this place. Highly recommend!!!!
We just spent three nights at the Seagull. We were looking for "retro" hotels as part of our weeklong tour through northern Wisconsin as we get tired of the dullness of McHotels and the high cost of boutiques and B&Bs. It was very clean and well-managed. The owner, Mike, greeted us upon arrival and gave us a very informative introduction to our room. I really respected his fair, honest, and hardworking approach to operating his business.
It was quiet at night even though we left our windows open. The entire downtown area is with easy walking distance. It was nice to park the car and leave it alone for a few days. Added to the general theme of relaxation we were looking for.
This was a very pleasant place to be and we would definately stay here again if we return.
My husband and I booked this hotel because of the price. It's very reasonable. We stayed here for 2 nights, I believe. We would definitely stay here again. It's a very short drive to downtown. Our room was on the ground level (there are only 2) with a gorgeous view of Lake Superior! We were able to bring our dog for only an extra $10. The website said queen-sized beds, but it definitely was not. It was a full, but it was still comfortable. The room was on the small size, but we didn't spend a lot of time in there anyway.
The seagull bay motel is a small motel in bayfield. we have been going there for the last 3 years and we rent the residence inn, which is a house that has been cut up into smaller rentals. We rent the main floor and the basement which has 3 bedrooms on each floor. The main level has a sauna and both have a full kitchen. the price is very reasonable at 105.00 a night based on double occupancy per level plus 10.00 for each person after that. It is very close to town with a trail that leads into town (about 3 blocks). It is a nonsmoking motel and although my family does not smoke, some of our guests did and the owners are very strict on any smoking on any of the property. you can't beat the value. There is no a/c in the residence inn and if it is hot it is very uncomfortable to sleep. They do supply a couple of box fans in the rooms. they are pet friendly and there is a charge per night per dog. The view is great of superior and they have a large yard with a fire pit in the yard.
We stayed one night in Bayfield because we took the Apostle Island cruise. I choose the Seagull because of the good reviews and we were not disappointed. The service is excellent and the room was small, but comfortable. We were on the ground floor with a view of the lake. However we had to close the blinds for privacy as everyone was walking by. The hotel doesn't serve breakfast and doesn't have a/c. I would recommend this hotel.
