The breakfast fruit and coffee were good but the the quiche was cold. The house is historic and interesting, but the bed squeaked. The Hostess was friendly but overly-talkative. Great location for Antietam Battlefield.

You seemed like a self-confident adult but you stayed two nights, Saturday and Sunday, without mentioning any problems. You say there was a problem with your bed, had we known we could have remedied that right away. At breakfast on Sunday when asked you said the breakfast was excellent, but after leaving you write here about a problem with the food. The quiche you were served is a recipe that is traditionally served a room temperature. If you had mentioned it at the time we could have adjusted it for you right away. My wife takes pride in sharing her knowledge of the history of the the Rohrbach family, the murder of Jacob Rohrbach, the house, and how it all ties in with the Battle of Antietam. Most people appreciate her story.

I had waited over 50 years to visit Sharpsburg and I could not have stayed in a more welcoming and comfortable place. The accommodation is beautifully presented; Joanne and Paul have managed to keep the old feel of the old building whilst making it very comfortable with all modern conveniences. They are most hospitable and helpful without being in any way intrusive and the breakfasts are home-cooked heaven. I had three memorable days there and will retain very fond memories of my stay. I give this 6 out of 5!

Room Tip: I stayed in the beautiful Clara Barton suite which was comfortable and spacious, but I also sneaked a peek at the other rooms which all looked appealing.

After visiting the Antietam Battle site we couldn't have stayed in a more welcoming comfortable, historic inn than the Jacob Rohrbach Inn. Our suite of rooms were perfect. The beds so comfortable, the hosts so informative and accommodating. The breakfast was delectable. A perfect place to stay in historic Sharpesburg.

The Jacob Rohrbach Inn is perfect for visiting the historic town of Sharpsburg, MD. and the Antietam Battlefield. The inn has been beautifully decorated and updated with wonderful bathrooms and beds and soft full towels, yet still has its original historic charm. The location is perfect in this beautiful small historic town. You are close to everything that is wonderful about the area! The owners, Joanne and Paul Breitenbach are wonderfully warm and helpful and Joannne makes the most wonderful breakfast with a great assortment of homemade breads, eggs, bacon, juice and coffee!! We would stay here again and recommend this inn highly! You won't be disappointed!!

Room Tip: I got to view every room and they are all equally beautiful and large and airy! We stayed in a room off the back, which we loved!!!!

If you plan to visit Antietam to see the Civil War Battlefield and looking for a perfect place to stay while you are in the area, I strongly recommend the Jacob Rohrbach Inn. My wife and I stayed there and we can't say enough good things about Inn keepers Joanne and Paul Breitenbach. We had been to Colonial Williamsburg earlier in the day and we hoped to be in Sharpsburg late afternoon. Well, we spent more time in Williamsburg than we had planned so we called Joanne to tell her we would be coming in around 9:00-9:30 pm. She said not to worry--should would be there and to drive safely. Sure enough when we arrived Joanne was there to greet us and she couldn't have been nicer. Rather than put us in the main inn, she put us in the Governor's quarters which was set off from the inn. She was concerned we would disturb the guests if we brought our baggage to the room we had reserved. Very thoughtful!!! The Governor's quarters were incredible. You walked into a large living room that led to a large bedroom that led to a large bathroom. It was an incredible room!!! Then in the morning, we had an outstanding breakfast--French toast, sausage, fresh fruit, and a delicious hot apple topping for the French toast--very delicious. Then, after breakfast, Joanne gave us about a 15-20 minute history of the house which really added a lot to our stay...For us, the Jacob Rohrbach Inn was an excellent B&B. We are sure it will be for you as well.
