While we generally like to sample new places to stay, we make a point of staying at this wonderful place each year when we come to the Contemporary American Theater Festival in Shepherdstown (3 miles away). Joanne and Paul are excellent hosts, very knowledgeable about the region, its history, current developments, the Civil War-- and much more! They can suggest dozens of places to visit, trails to explore, eateries, wineries. The house and grounds are beautiful and comfortable (even when the weather is blazing hot!). This is the gold standard by which we judge all other places.

The Inn is the kind of place I picture when I think 'bed & breakfast'. Wooden floors, period furnishings, and a wonderful ambiance made this an excellent choice.

The Inn is located on Main Street in Sharpsburg and is minutes away from the battlefield park. The owner is very helpful in providing directions, bicycles, and information on nearby restaurants. Soft drinks are provided in a communal fridge and the breakfast is homecooked, served family style, and plentiful.

Our room slept three and had opened onto a large, upstairs porch. After dinner, wifey and I spent the evening outside in the rocking chairs, reading and chatting with the other guests. A TV with an assortment of DVDs was in the room, but we did not use them. Our son did make use of the free wi-fi.

We were only there for one night, but it was a nice one. I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.

We stay here every year when we come to the Contemporary American Theater Festival. The Inn is beautiful, comfortable and in a great location. Joanne and Paul are great hosts and breakfast is always delicious. If you're lucky you may get peach cobbler from peaches right off the tree in the back yard.

Wonderful stay. Owners were very friendly and accomodating. They knew the quality of all the local restaurants. They also guided us to some local historical spots not associated with the Antietam Battlefield.

The best was the breakfast of peach pancakes made from peaches picked fresh from their tree in the back yard.

We stayed in the Antietam Room. It was lovely. The bed and pillows were perfect. The setting with our own deck was a perfect way to relax at the end the day. Breakfast was a great treat and a good way to start the day before heading out to the Battlefield. The location was convenient and easy access to quaint shopping and restaurants. We would definitely stay again.

We stayed in the Generals Quarters, nice, well maintained. Breakfast in am was OK but not high quality. Boring quiche and some fruit and toast. need to make it with more flair and color I thought. Since it is a bed and breakfast, I expected more for breakfast.!!!!
