This is one of the nicest Motels we've stayed in on our trip. The desk clerk was genuinely friendly and helpful. The room (103) was in excellent condition, clean, comfortable and well equipped. I would highly recommend this Motel and wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. If you are visiting Del Rio then you really should use this place as a benchmark to compare the others to.

The owners of this quaint hotel truly understand customer service. The rooms are sufficient, clean and roomy enough. But it's the service that will make you always return. Cute, lively bar makes the evening wind down nicely and conveniently located next to 2 of the best restaurants in town. Manuel's for steak and Don Marcelinos for slap yourself great Mexican food. The hotel has a small but clean pool and free wifi throughout. The breakfast is a bit sparce but then the price makes up for it. Save the money and head to Marcelinos.

I don't ordinarily review the nameless faceless motels that are used as one night stop overs, but this motel was a stand out. It is an older property which has been refurbished with great pride of ownership. It is independently family owned and is in competition with the national chains. When we arrived in the parking lot at 5 PM, two things struck me - the absence of any other cars and the total absence of any trace of trash. The room was spotless and had been redone with care. We were able to walk to a decent restaurant. The continental breakfast is served in a small room, but the owner told us that he will soon be able to use space next door when a new business opens and can then have a hot breakfast. The owner's family was helping out all around and he himself took a few minutes to tell us about the art collection he has displayed. I was glad we stayed here rather than at one of the corporate motels. This family business exemplifies the work ethic that seems to be fading in our country.

Reviews here suggested this place was a real bargain and a delight in its price range in Del Rio, which is not exactly a garden spot. Mostly all true, but a few details: The place looks under construction, is behind several vacant storefronts that seem "in process." The office had a sign that asked us to honk or call; they were working on opening a bar next door (which might not bode well for travelers like us who'd go out of our way NOT to stay at a place with a bar). The grounds---basically a huge central concrete parking lot---were clean enough, but fringe of construction debris and stash of huge BBQ grills looked a little junky. The front office has a lively assortment of artwork (think Biker meets Coca Coca collector), with several vases full of dead daisies.... The person who checked us in (owner?) was super nice and helpful, though. Room was clean, tasteful, all new furnishings. Mattress wasn't plush, but was new and comfortable (except for scratchy sheets). Bath had the dreaded single fan/light fixture, but as noted here by others, a fantastic walk-in shower. Good flat screen TV and cable, strong wifi. No ice machine, but he gave me some ice from his freezer in the large private quarters which seem attached to the office/storefront area---all kind of hard to figure out, and, again, piled up with stuff. The plastic coffee containers outside the doors for cigs are a definite eyesore. Worst of all was the pool, which had nice new lounges, but a scary scum on top of green water..... These folks are trying real hard and have the right idea. Seems they need to now concentrate on putting a better public face on the compound, and filing off a few rough edges.

Room Tip: Don't take the front-most room beside the stairs and the pool gate..... I'm not sure why we...

I am really sorry that you did not completely enjoy your stay at our hotel. Honestly, the floor above the lobby is not completed but there is no visible construction material lying around. There is a vacant store which is allocated for a restaurant and the bar which was in its final stages of completion and is now open. The bar will not be a rowdy one and its distance from the rooms is sufficient for the noise not to travel and disturb the guests. I have three BBQ grills that are stacked on one side. These are used a lot by our long staying guests, we have a full out door kitchen facility and a pantry full of spices and seasoning which our guests can use. Its been extremely hot and not much BBQing is done at present but there have been occasions when all three grills are being used.
The flowers in the lobby are changed frequently, the daisies are still alive, its the roses that don't last. The pool was green for the first time since the place opened. There is no pool company in Del Rio that will service and maintain a commercial pool. I did eventually get someone and our pool is again clear and enjoyed by our guests. All our rooms are non smoking. Having the coffee pots with sand deters smokers from taking them into the rooms. We had ashtrays but found that they were being taken into the rooms. We are replacing the coffee pots with galvanized buckets. Ice bags are stored in the freezers in the pantry. We have an ice machine that has a scoop and the health department wants dispensers as scooping the ice by hand can lead to contamination. We will be getting a dispensing ice machine in 3 weeks time.
Please accept an offer to come stay at our hotel free for two nights, we will have a BBQ party specially arranged for you and assure you that the pool will be clean. Again sorry for not being up to your standards. We value your comments and will do our best to make your stay pleasant.

A very clean friendly place to stay. Rooms are well kept and great walk-in shower. They serve a continental style breakfast, but the two days I stayed there, I was gone before it was set up. Will stay there when I go back to Del Rio.
