“Making Progress!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 27, 2014

I must say that despite of the past negative stuff mentioned about this hotel, I must also COMMEND them for a very great renovation that has been happening during the past year or so. :-) This is not a joke. I have not tried being inside of, or even looking at, the room amenities yet so I will not say anything about those. So again. There is the disclaimer.

I have tried going back to Coral Ocean Point for a breakfast….and honestly, it’s landscaping and passage to the main lobby was such a BIG positive improvement.
Upon entering the Lobby, I was stunned at how different and much better the ambience and design were. Oh… The food at the Golden Eagle Restaurant was sooooooooo goooood. Not that heavy for breakfast, by the way. Moreover, they had really well-done (well cooked and well presented) pastries. Also, they had minimal amount(s) of dish(es) served. There was different types of salad, but didn’t try it out. What made the experience much greater was the feature of glass windows overlooking the Golf Course, and of course, the southern end of Saipan.
Also, the furniture—especially the tables and chairs, were very user friendly, neatly laid out, and they don’t look “dirty” even after being cleaned up by the staff.

Lastly, I want to commend the friendly and respectful staff of Golden Eagle. What I admired most with them was their ability to stay away from customers (meaning they knew when to approach a customer and when to leave them alone to their privacy).

Well, I expect more improvements of this Hotel as others do. HOWEVER, I just wanted to say the positive things regarding this hotel’s progress. Thank you for reading.

Okay, so I didn't choose this place. Continental Airlines kept canceling flights to Guam and stuck us here as compensation. Maybe that has to do with what room was given to us, but here's my experience:

Pros: Staff was very friendly and helpful. Food was... decent, but quite over priced. Nice view of the golf course and Tinian.

Cons: Grounds were covered with trash and stray though friendly animals. The pool looks in such bad shape it may NEVER be used again. The room we stayed in was in bad shape as well. The carpet was stained, dirty and faded. The room has not been updated in nearly 30 years, by the look of it. There was a bedside table with flaking formica on it that we tried to move, only to find that all of the lights in the room were plugged into it with proprietary connectors, so if we moved it, all the lights would not work. The TV and Cable box are straight out of the 1980s. The water from the tap says its not potable, and it's a long walk to the lobby where you pay a horrific price for drinks. You're also many miles away from the main strip in Saipan so there's nothing to do if you're not golfing.

It was so bad, I tried to find AND PAY for another place at the last minute, but was unable to book anything. So there you go, I'd rather pay for someplace than visit this place for free again.

Room Tip: Go someplace else.

It's good for what it is, a cheap hotel. If you don't golf, there's no real point, except for that it's cheap.
