“Moving”
Reviewed October 4, 2013

I am reading the book "Unbroken" about a WWII airman who had his plane crash but survived in a life raft for 41 days only to be taken POW under that Japanese in the Pacific. Then went to this place to read about the effects of the war on Saipan. It should be experienced, it was moving. Highly recommend. Plus the views from up top are extrordinary.

“Humbling Experience”
Reviewed September 28, 2013

It was on this site at the conclusion of the Battle of Saipan that many Japanese civilians plunged to their deaths rather than surrender to U.S. forces. To stand at this spot is almost like feeling history reverberating around you in the very rocks, trees, and monuments which mark this tragedy. The Japanese and other memorials are just as moving a tribute to those who lost their lives here. It is worth the time and effort to visit this spot while in Saipan. It should be noted that the video at the American Memorial Park Information Center contains information on Suicide Cliff.

“Suicide Cliff visit”
Reviewed September 19, 2013

This is a very moving experience. Not being born until after World War II, I still got the feeling that there were lots of folks who knew someone who was part of the Battle for Saipan, including all the Japanese who came to place flowers or some type of artifact on the stone memorial with Japanese kanji to identify it. The memory of all these Japanese soldiers who jumped to their death still lingers.

“A Historical Site”

I liked that there was a memorial in this beautiful setting overlooking the ocean and that there were plaques telling you about the place .

“views, winds and history”
Reviewed June 10, 2013

Over the years they have upgraded the site with displays of pictures and information. There is always a strong breeze and great views. Sadly when you see all the monuments its a somber place to see.

Its easy to find, just follow the road signs.
