Description: Singapore for almost 200 years has been at the crossroads of Southeast Asia, where many cultures and nationalities live, work and more importantly, eat together. Singapore's cuisines logically reflect this cultural diversity. The four major culinary cultures -- Malaysian/Indonesian, Chinese, Indian and Nonya -- are in fact a blend of each other, creating a new cuisine that is unique and more complex in flavors and fragrances. Straits Restaurant offers a menu that features the complexity of all these Singaporean cuisines in chef Chris Yeo's unique interpretation.

“If you have 2 hours to lose for a Rice bowl..”
Reviewed December 29, 2012 via mobile

Service horribly slow: 2 hours before having anything to eat.
Even though the menu seems very simple to prepare.
Finally the Food came: nothing special, rather greasy.
We thought , seing the decoration and the general ambiance ,we could escape the jungle of fast food lower level ...
It's exactly the same junk food with a nice presentation, but the différence is that you lose your time for nothing

“Something different”
Reviewed December 6, 2012

Was looking for something different and found Straits in the Westview mall. Food was very tasty and the prices were reasonable. The quality of the food and service was very good. I will go back again when in San Francisco.

“Bottomless mimosas for sunday brunch - It makes Christmas shopping fun!”
Reviewed December 4, 2012

My wife and I went to San Francisco for Christmas shopping and found this gem of eatery for Sunday brunch located in the Westfield Mall a few blocks from Union Square. Whatever you do start with the bottomless mimosa for only $15. The brunch menu is limited but the choices are varied. We fell in love with two dishes. Crab cake benedict with asparagus, egg,and hollandaise and the seafood frittata with shrimp, calamari, mushrooms, and basil. Both we were tasty and are "do agains" on my list. We were told the Pandan french toast and crispy bacon is very good and next time we will give it try. If you're a guy and don't like shopping, sit at the bar and watch the football game while the girls shop. It's not a bad way to spend a Sunday morning.

“Slipping”
Reviewed November 14, 2012

I eaten here before and loved it but my last visit was disappointing. The service was terrible even though the restaurant was not that crowded. I had to get up and help myself to water refills. Several items on the regular menu that we requested were not available, which was disappointing. The roti pratha appetizer was the high point of the meal. The wait person forgot to put the chicken in in the noodle dish that we ordered. The salmon wrapped in banana leaf was a better than expected, a very flavorful dish but the rice accompanying it was undercooked and crunchy. The calamari was average at best. Chicken lollipops was a better bet the portion was a might skimpy for the price charged. Overall tab was pretty high given that uber inexpensive places with better food are available in Chinatown just a few blocks away. It may have been an off-night for this restaurant. I did enjoy this place on previous visits, but not sure I'll go back again.
