This hotel is now a Wyndam Condo. It is very centrally located in Union Square. It is about 2 blocks to Chinatown, and about 3 blocks to the Macy Department store.

The muni system in San Francisco is excellent! If you buy a City Pass ($60), you have unlimited use of the muni system and the cable car for 9 days. I also gave you 5 attractions for free. We went to the de Young Museum, Bay Cruise, San Francisco MOMA, the Aquarium at Pier 39 and the Science Museum.

We found San Francisco extremely clean, safe, and with numerous restaurants (not just in the Fisherman's Wharf), but everywhere.

The location was fabulous, close to the streetcars (1 Block), China town (2 Blocks) coner store (opposite) and Union Square 2 blocks away, its central to everything.

What it makes up for in location in lacks in noise management. The manager Jon who had no idea on how to deal with customers with any concerns about the noise or customer requests to be moved. We just got the standard ‘sorry we are full’ line which is a way of saying like it or lump it.

We had room 303, facing Bush Street, a 1 bedroom suite. Due to the Authorities knocking back planning requests to install double glazed windows, the room was incredibly noisy. The rooms facing the outside streets come with a standard 4 packets of earplugs which says everything. If you have the luck of being allocated an internally facing room, the noise would be tolerable or non existent. So we slept with the aircon going to muffle the noise of the nightclub, jackhammers by road crews, Harleys coming down the hill at the rate of knots, ambulances and fire engines with sirens blazing etc – yes we heard the entire suite of city noises known to human kind.

The rooms are small, but that is because of the building and location, so you know this before you book. The laundry service is free, but with 3 washers and 3 dryers servicing the entire building, this can be pot luck as to whether they are available, and the one internet facilities can be tied up by inconsiderate guests who take 30 minute slots rather than the requested 10 minutes.

It’s a fabulous location, and the rooms are tidy and meet the needs. The manager needs a coaching lesson on rounded customer service and the noise issue should be noted on the website to highlight the shortcomings to potential patrons as it is such a big issue. I would not stay here again simply based on the noise, as I did not sleep properly for 5 nights we were there, but based on location you might pursuade me to stay again.

A thoroughly enjoyable time at WM SF. We came up from the South Bay for a getaway night out. The location is perfect, near the theatre district, Chinatown, and Union Square. Parking was no problem, with the Sutter-Stockton Garage just across the street. Once parked, there are many public transit options, with the cable cars one street up on Powell and bus line 30 going to North Beach.

We had a studio room on the corner. It wasn't large, but certainly met our needs. It reminded me of a similar room we stayed in during a trip to London. It had recently been remodeled with dual-pane windows. With the window closed and AC fan on (for white noise) we weren't bothered at all by the street noise.

As always with WorldMark, the staff was extremely helpful. They have a list of their preferred restaurants with discount vouchers for some and were more than willing to help answer any questions.

We'll certainly be back.

My husband and I stayed in a studio room. It was on a corner of the street. Even with windows shut, we could hear the noises outside. Across the street there was a night club. At 1am there were people yelling and screaming outside. At 5am there were construction workers working on the street already. By 9am you would hear cars, people, constructions, etc. No wonder there were two sets of earplugs provided in our room. We asked the front desk if we could switch room, they said there were no vacancies, and that why don't we use earplugs. The second night my husband and I couldn't stand the noise and decided to use the earplugs. Then it was a bit better. The room was OK. The toilet in the bathroom was the kind used in a public bathroom. There was a sign saying that too much steam in the bathroom would trigger the fire alarm. To silence it, just open the bathroom window. That was quite amusing. We stayed there for two nights, and we didn't get any housekeeping service. However, there was an envelope for housekeeping tip. I thought that was funny, too. My husband and I usually take pictures of the places we stay at. We disliked the place so much that we didn't want to take any photos. The only good part is that it's close to China Town and the shopping areas.

I'm a Worldmark owner.... this is not like other Worldmarks (no kitchen, etc) but I was not the least bit disappointed. You're in San Fran -- no need to cook!! The construction is -- really -- construction... halls beat up, floors ripped up... yet, it had not the least bit of a negative impact on my stay. I heard NO noise and, except for walking through some unsightly halls, would have had no idea construction was going on. The staff was friendly and helpful (as always at Worldmark!) and the location was WONDERFUL! Really -- just the best location, close to everything, including transportation. I will definitely stay here again. (No parking at hotel but affordable lot directly across the street)

Stayed in a 1 bedroom suite which had a separate living area

Positives:
• Hotel was in a prime location in San Francisco, metres from Union Square and Chinatown.
• Our room contined a microwave, sink, some cutlery, tea / coffee maker, bar fridge and ice cooler.
• 24hr gym – was pretty good too with new equipment
• Free laundry and dry facilities at lobby floor stocked with detergents so you can do some washing.
• Free internet available at the lobby but you can purchase internet access so that you can connect from your room.
• Rooms were stocked with towels and soaps
• Staff very helpful, friendly and polite
• Free brewed coffee at the lobby floor
• There are vouchers you can collect at the lobby which gives you discounts to restaurants and eateries around the area.

Negatives:
• Rooms were small
• Unlike other Worldmark resorts I’ve stayed at it is usually spacious, the rooms were tiny.
• Hotel and room needs refurbishing and an upgrade a bit on the dull side. Although at the time were there the hotel was currently going through renovations. This will be completed by May 2009.
• No safe
• Only 1 lift and took forever to arrive on floor and would shake at times too.
• Rooms were not serviced everyday

I would probably stay here again for the convenience to tourist and shopping areas.

My sister and I stayed in a Deluxe 1 bedroom 2 bathroom room for 5 nights. Loved the location, loved the staff. They were extremely helpful and friendly. Especially James! Close to Chinatown and the cable cars. The room itself was great. The kitchenette was on the small side, but we had planned on eating out a lot anyway so it was no problem. The only thing that was a negative - the elevators were slow. We were on the 7th floor and it took ages for the elevator to arrive.
