Went to the West Portal neighboorhood yesterday and was pleasantly surprised to see Bursa had just opened for lunch again! The place was fairly full but we got a table for 3 right away. Ordered 2 appetizers, the "Cigar" (feta cheese wrapped in filo dough and deep fried) and the Baba Ganoush (vegetarian eggplant dish similar in consistancy to hummus). The Baba came with this thin pita type bread which was fantastic and warm and the Baba itself had a great char cooked flavor but not overdone. it was so good, I could have just had another serving of that for my whole meal!

The $8. lunch menu was quite extensive offering several options for salads, wraps and kebabs. You can order off their full menu at any time if you want to, but with all the choices for lunch and at the $8 price, you can't beat it.

We all ordered a different wrap - the falafal, the citrus chicken and the eggplant. Each one came with your choice of fries or a salad. The wraps were excellent! I had the chicken one which had a great citrus/pesto type of sauce and wrapped in their thin warm bread again which was just delicious. My family also enjoyed their wraps. The side salad that came with the wrap was made of field greens with a very light olive oil/lemon dressing.

We were so full that we didn't have enough room for desert, but will be sure to save room for that next time, hopefully next weekend!!

What could be better than yummy food in a neighborhood where you can find parking? Restaurant receives an A. Only hiccup was we had to ask waitress for pita three times. By the time it arrived our appetizer spreads were 80% eaten. They were so delicious, the bread wasn't needed to enjoy them. (% the bread was good too!)

When the urge hits for Mediterranean cuisine look no further than Bursa Restaurant. The owner is hands on, meets and greats diners and truly treats them like guests in his home. Atmosphere is casual and unpretensious and the restaurant has a warm feeling.

The food is consistently excellent. For groups would suggest starting with their combo platter. Highly recommend the rack of lamb which comes with a pilaf combo and asparagus. Tender and beautifully seasoned. All the kebabs are excellent (my husband is partial to the Kofte Kebab) and come with a generous amount of rice (think it is basmati rice). On this trip tried the Feta prawns which were delicious - tangy and pungent. The wine list is well edited and pocketbook friendly. A pefect place to come solo, a deux or with a larger group. Bursa is very accommodating and have seen many a large party here.

My best all time favor in West Portal! I would eat there weekly, as it is so perfect. From the service, ambiance, food quality and convenience!
This is truly a GEM in SFO!

Bursa bills itself as offering Mediterranean, Middle Eastern, Turkish food. We feel it offers mainly Turkish food. We had eaten at Bursa twice before in the last five years, and we remembered how delicious was the kunefe. We went again on the last day of 2011. We had stuffed eggplant and rack of lamb which consisted of four chops. Both dishes were very good. Bursa seems much more popular than when we had been there previously. It was hard to get a reservation for prime times, and people were waiting at the door. The noise level went up and down, and there were times when we could not converse because of noise from the long table next to us. The lighting is low and romantic. The bare walls are covered only with paintings, and we wondered if some drapes would dampen the noise. Service was friendly and prompt. The kunefe was absolutely delicious. The price was quite reasonable. On the whole, our experience was very good.
