SPQR was a delightful flavor experience. Located at 1911 Fillmore Street, this small, very comfortable restaurant focuses on modern Italian cuisine. Chef Matthew Accarrino uses available local ingredients, many from his own garden. Our large group was treated to a series of courses served family-style, all paired with an appropriate wine. The wait staff was attentive, knowledgeable and very friendly. It was a delightful experience! I'm looking forward to another opportunity to enjoy SPQR.

First of all, SPQR is small. So making a reservation for five required some doing. Chris was wonderful... emailing back and forth to areange a suitable time. Then at the last minute, one of our five got sick, and we had to change back to four. Chris actually came to the table to meet us since we had communicated so much, and it felt like meeting an old friend. Our server was equally friendly... and knowledgeable... a real necessity in a restaurant with such interesting and exotic ingredients and pairings. Even the two biggest foodies we know who were with us had to ask some questions. The food itself was delicious and beautifully presented. We found the servings to be of adequate size and enjoyed tasting one another's selections. Our favorites were the mustard cappellini with guinea hen ragu, the kamachi crudo and the panna cotta. The wine list was also impressive, and again our server was able to make a perfect pairing after we described our preferences. Creative food, professional service and a cheery, bustling atmosphere... what more could you ask for? Elbow room, perhaps, but still worth the cost by far.

Of the Michelin-starred restaurants I've eaten at, this was my favorite experience. Truly a gem and deserving of more accolades.

The Michelin Star really says it all!! Everything about this restaurant is top notch. I could go into detail about the meal, the service, the wine but instead I will just say that this restaurant will deliver more than you could ask for in a dining experience. If you had to choose one restaurant to visit in San Fran...this is it!
