another reason to go to vancouver, if they have bread better than that at liquria bakery, i have to have some. i read about this san francisco treasure in trip advisor and noticed it as i walked around columbus park waiting for the 39 bus up to coit tower. across the street people were lined up to get in mama's. if they only knew, they could go in liguria and get a huge (maybe 10x10) slab of some wonderful foccacia for $5 and eaten it in the park aaaah, san francisco! i will go there everytime i come to san francisco.

There has to be something outstanding in this focaccia if it is all sold out by 11AM..

...the tomato focaccia is so tasty that this family business knows what they´re doing...from generation to generation during the last 60 years it has been the number 1 in North Beach, the italian quarters of San Francisco.

good job!

Dropped off and got focaccia on the way up to Coit Tower and they had limited stocks left at 12 midday. Mind, I had been warned they sold out early in the day.
Still baked the traditional way the owner, well, lets say has not mellowed over they years. Great experience though and made me laugh. Great food too.

I'd read about the Liguria Bakery in a guide book so made sure to add it to our recent visit. When I arrived in the late morning, the front display shelves were empty so I thought that everything was already sold out but they had fresh bread in the back and I was able to get the rosemary foccaccia of my choice - they kindly cut it into serving sized pieces and put it in a bag for me to munch on. The bread was very good but not any better than what I get at Terra Breads in Vancouver, BC, so I was disappointed, considering the high reviews it receives. Having said that, anyone who doesn't have access to Terra Breads won't be disappointed - a bare bones types of place which is very popular with the locals and tourists alike.

I love grabbing a slab of Foccaccia for the weekend. Go early. They frequently sell out of most everything before closing. The ladies can seem gruff (mother/daughter team). The place has been here forever and it feels like stepping back in time. They are great at what they do.
